Window Roller / Regulator - how to remove/fix
« on: May 20, 2020, 02:41:07 pm »
The window goes up smoothly until the last 3 inches.
It would be hard and Id need to force it.
And now it just clicks and I need to grab the window and push it up manually.

So I took the door apart and not sure what to do. I took a video and I can see the teeth are pretty much destroyed on the gear. Do I need to replace this whole unit or can I move the gear up so the teeth get some meat?

I hear its riveted in but I see screws. Does this mean someones been there before, or are there rivets some place?

I messed around with it last night and now I cant close the window at all hehe so Im going to try to take it all apart today, but was hoping for some instructions from someone whose done this before. The mopar books do not tell me much at all. They basically say, just taker out and putter back in.

I'd say a whole new (used) window regulator.

My 78 is riveted. Not sure if the earlier ones had screws or someone changed them. Be glad it's not riveted.

My 86 window regulators are riveted. Wasn't easy putting a good one back in.

Spent 6 hours on that damn thing yesterday and decided it was too far gone to try to fix.

Going to try to find a new or used regulator somewhere and take it all apart again.

This was not fun but at least now I see how it all goes together.
