1991 d150 ignition switch
« on: May 30, 2020, 03:21:01 pm »
How do I separate the lock cylinder from the ignition switch?

Everything looks riveted together and donít see a way to separate.

My problem is the chrome piece where the key goes in spins freely and doesnít exactly align with the Inner slot. Itís been annoying and would keep buzzing like the key was still in due to wrong position. Well this morning it decided to lock perpendicular to the inner slot. So canít start it. Pulled the wheel off but stuck at that point. Help!

the chrome outer collar is "crimped" to the inner lock cylinder , and to the best of my knowledge it has nothing to do with making the buzzer go off , that only happens with the key IN , unless with it being spun its making contact with the buzzer trigger = either fix it or pull the buzzer

Problem is outer collar locked 90 degrees to inner mechanism. Instead of pushing in roll pin, would have maybe been better to try to pull it out.

Ended up Giving up and bought a new switch and lock cylinder. Got it installed and steering wheel back on. At least I can move it again.
