02 Durango started it's self!
« on: June 2, 2020, 05:03:54 pm »
I I was out trying to figure out how to get the interior lights to go out so i can drive the thing. I had the battery unhooked for the last month, but when I hooked the battery up and tried to start it I got nothing. I put the charger on it and got a good charge.

When I put the cable back on it started it's self!  :o

yes the guy I bought it from put a remote start thing on it but I never touched it.

What the heck?
Dome lights are still one and the speedo is still pegged at 110mph............      >:(
I'd rather push a DODGE than drive a chevy or a ford!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with remote start if it's factory or a factory accessory. The aftermarket ones are a nightmare though. The Mopar one I added to my 2018 2500 was just a new hood latch with a switch and one wire to run from the switch to the BCM. Everything else was already built into the truck and just needed a flash to enable it. My kit did have two new fobs as well, which is my reason for adding remote start in the first place. The accessory was cheaper than the cost to buy two new fobs.

It's after market and the guy did it himself. I'm going to rip it out because I will never used it anyway. BUT it worked fine the day I bought the truck.

I pulled the fuse for the dome lights and it buzzes. That will kill the battery too. AAAARRRGGGGG new fangled crap!  >:(

I had a 2000 that I bought brand new (27 miles on it) and I put 300,000 miles on it only changing both front half shafts and intermediate shafts.  I wish I'd never have sold it.

the thing to remember about the dome lights , older ones anyway , they HAVE power and are "looking" for any ground they can find .... so stuff like a bad door switch , or shorted wire under the floor mat ( our p/u's), will make that circut complete ....

It didn't start with the lights until I swapped out the heater control unit. BUT why did it start it's self? This is freaking me out! And why is the speedo pegged? I never should have sold the 99 to my (at the time) sis-in-law. Silver, black leather, 318 that would smoke the tires and only 120K miles...............   She's still driving that thing.
