there were a select few that were pretty close to the advertised numbers , especially the early 60's ones before the horsepower war .............. by mid 60's early 70's yes , they exaggerated greatly . Chrysler use to build some ODDBALL autos , that were mechanically different from the others in the line up . The '61 300G had the same LOOKING front fenders as the newport BUT they were 10 inches longer on the 300G , the rear leaf springs were some 3 inches longer , with 4 leather bucket seats , front ones that had 6 way electric and swiveled out , a push button cast iron 727 with a p brake on the tail 2-4 brls sitting WAY out over the exhaust manifolds cast iron dual point dizzy with mechanical tach drive ( long shaft rb) .. I owned one for some 20plus years . by 1962 the 300 lost much of those differences ... the special 300 era was pretty much over. yeah they had the 2 4's but NOT the long rams and used the same body pannels ........ same with the '66 barracuda S it WAS different , had the wide spaced 2 bolt lower ball joints , with discs , took the larger lug pattern , up swept exhaust manifolds
( sorta looked like BB ones real sob to r/r plugs ) close ratio 4 speed , quick ration manual steering , ALL factory I owned one 3 years old , and found the "build sheet" some of those things became standard on the 70's V8 dusters etc. Lug pattern / brakes
