What tire/wheel combo will fit without body modifications
« on: July 8, 2020, 10:35:24 am »
I have an 87 ramcharger but the stock 15s look so small on it.  Its got the stock lift and we aren't planning on any aftermarket additional lift.  Any idea what good tire and while size combo would work without having to do any body modifications for clearance?

thanks

are your leaf springs original or have they been replaced?  Sagging front leaf springs would have a large effect on what overall tire size you can fit.

I'm running basically 31.5/10/17 but with new front springs and the 3/4 axles and could probably go to at least 33" if not a bit larger without any lift. I also don't plan on wheeling this so I could go larger than someone who needs full flex.

Avoid offset rims.  Makes them swing in an arc.  I have 33x12.50 with 4" lift but too much offset so the tires swing fore and aft as I steer.

31x10.50s should fit any Ramcharger, as they were a factory option.  Anything else will depend on the wheel and tire width, backspacing and the condition of the springs.  My old '84 Ramcharger could fit 32x11.50s with a little trimming, others have said they had not issues fitting 33s.  You best guide is your own truck and a tape measure.

I run 33x12.5 tires on my sacked out factory height '79 Power Wagon on factory Chrysler 15x7 rims with very little rubbing and no body modifications.
