CAb floor Rocker replacement Preference
« on: August 9, 2020, 07:10:22 am »
Does anybody have a preference for cab repair sheet metal?  Cab mounts, rocker panels, inner rocker panel and floor sections?

Raybuck has good quality stuff.  I also ordered the cab mount kit on ebay from auto body specialties and it was pretty good, came with both rear and both front mounts.

Its proving cheaper for me to cut good pieces out of donor trucks than to sustain the freight charges and taxes for patch panels.

    YMMV.

I'd just replace the entire cab. Rust sucks! Wherever you find rust, theres probably ten other places you didn't find it, but it's still there.

I agree that if one part is rusty the rest usually is as well.  However for the price of a good used cab, if the roof, doors and firewall are good ill usually replace the rest...once the floors are out the cab mounts are a breeze and it keeps another cab from being scrapped.

Someone has to do the dirty work of saving the sheetmetal.  Everyone takes a turn.  Mine was a 1973 CJ5 in PA.  In hinsight it have been cheaper and quicker to drive to Arizona for a clean body but I learned how to weld...
