29 spline NP241 question
« on: July 3, 2020, 09:54:11 am »
I'm trying to get something straight.  I've heard that there was a 29 spline, passenger drop version of the NP241 used in the 88-94 Ramchargers and trucks.  Is this true?  If so does somebody have the one available that I could get some measurements of the input.

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Never seen a 29 spline passenger side drop NP-241. I bet that it doesn't exist.

There is a 29 spline NP-205 that came behind the manual Cummins powered 1st gens from '89-'93.
It is a hard to find, and usually expensive T-case

I don't remember if it was a 23 or 29 spline count, but here is my Passenger side drop NP241 from a 1989 Ramcharger.  It's mounted behind an A518 (4 speed 727), but had the same splines and mounting as my 1993 Jeep YJ's MP231 TC.  (I'm fairly sure it was 23 spline though)

Dodge NP241s are all 23 spline.

    Good to know.

Anybody know if it's possible to swap input shafts between the '88-'93 np241 and the '94-'99 np241?

    Thanks,
    Justin

AFAIK, there's a change in the pitch of the bevel gear on the input at some point. The year that changes is what you'll need to figure out.
