Hello everyone, I am new to this site so please forgive my newbieness...

I have been out of the wrenching world for some time now and am ready to get back into the fray.
So to start, any help on where to correctly post some questions regarding 1990 and older axle swap and new/rebuilt sources would be greatly appreciated.

The newest rig I have is a 1990 1/2ton 4spd W150 LW that I would like to swap to 1 ton and 6"+ suspension lift to start.
I have no interest in keeping the current transfer case. Thinking 203/205 or ?

I will also be building a '77 Crewcab Powerwagon and a '78 Ramcharger 4x4, both factory big blocks.

In the end I would like to have as much cross compatibility between all fronts and rears, just in case I need to rob parts off one for another.

Hopefully this will be a good jump off point for these builds.

Thank you and best regards,
Twitch

For help questions, put them in the Vehicle Help forum.  If it looks like it work better in a different location, one of us can move it and will leave a post to redirect you to the new location.  At the end of the day, it's not a huge deal as we are pretty laid back here.  Also, welcome to RCC!

Agreed Id keep the 241.  If you want a 203/205 doubler you'll need to fine a 4 speed that had an NP203 to begin with.  The dodge NP203 is the only think that bolts in place of a dodge NP203.  A 205 will bolt up where a 208/241 was but not a 203.  So your choices are find a 205 and use it alone or find a 4 speed from a 203.

For axles your best bet will be 60s F/R or a 60F 70R.  The one ton axles will bolt into your 1/2 ton once you find some.  These same axles will fit your 77/78 as well so there's your compatibility.  Your 77/78 should already have NP203 cases so you'll need drive flanges on your front 60s in those unless you are or have swapped the cases to part time.

With the 4 speed there isn't a lot of point in a doubler. The granny gear and low range in the NP205 is lower than a 727 with a NP203/NP205 doubler in double low range. The granny gear and the NP241 would be even lower.
