The Next Episode....1979 Trailduster
« on: October 27, 2020, 09:35:03 am »
Like any addiction...I just can't quit this. Picking up this 1979 Trailduster in a few weeks. Currently it is a 2wd (frame will be available as this truck is going to be a 4wd) initial plans are 91 CTD 5spd 4x4 drivetrain in the 84 4wd frame I picked up last week. Think this one will end up green I think; but we will see, got to get it back first.

Really my first 12V RC is the inspiration for this one, I miss that truck, but divorce has a tendancy to take those things away.

Very excited - remember I saw that donor too!  Great finds!  Make sure to post any/all pics you take.  Do you know what you are going to do with the 4x4 frame?  Where you want to cut/how much?  How you will address the extra body mount (I think there's one extra you have to move/add, right?)?

The 4x4 cummins frame will get cut up for parts to sell, the other 4x4 frame is from a RC so it doesn't need to get cut any where, the only modification is the use of a 3" body lift puck in the middle body mount position.

    Destroy is such a harsh word...I prefer re-purpose  ;D

Also, I will offer up the frame so someone else can build a 2wd pop top. I actually had thought about using the 4x4 donor body and making a 2wd  summer cruiser with the spare 440 I have in the garage. So many options....
