just picked up this sweet 4-door RC ( ;) ) - 2016 Hemi Durango Citadel with the 5.7 Hemi/8-speed, AWD, and the 'anodized' trim pkg (not chrome), plus a whole bunch of other pkg's - the perfect blend of a minivan, Subaru, and Challenger - holds 6, goes like hell, in any weather, with Harry Potter rollin' on the DVD screens in back {cool}

yah this one's pretty nicely appointed, and great colors.  It's a 'little' smaller than a minivan, and has less cubby hole space, etc., but the performance is just undeniable - it nicely "satisfies" the Challenger R/T craving Tracy has always had...while also serving as a great commuter/family hauler/entertainment machine.  And, we could hook up a 7000lb camper if we wanted.  It is literally a legit combination of a new minivan, AWD Subaru, and Hemi Challenger R/T.

About the only thing we wish it has was the cubby space that comes with a minivan, but we think we'll survive without it.

Besides...our 3 yr old loves saying "Hemicarrrr"... 8)

Love it!

You have any kind of MPG info?

at light loads it'll dip into '4-cly mode' and best we can tell on a pure highway run it does like 22 mpg - maybe better, but when the other 4 kick back in for a slight hill or so it dips fast, but average is yah right around 20-22 mpg.

not bad.

So much so... my wife wants another one.
Not going to happen until the Daytona gets built.
It's MY turn!
Ha Ha............

...it literally "feels" like a lifted 4-door Challenger... :D

About the only gripes we have with it are...unlike a minivan...we wish it had more cubby storage for phones, DVD cases, etc., and I'm scanning for simple interior 'cubby nets' to place along the trans tunnel hump - seen some that looked promising but the reviews sucked - may have to make my own...as usual...

#13 ·
it does...and no 'auto-engine-shutdown-at-a-stop-light' crap either - not even a button to turn off every time {cool}

Well, I see that they have begun taking orders for the Hellcat Durango, so there's that (need to find a dealer that doesn't try to upcharge you +$5K just for giggles).

We love our 2019 R/T 5.7 Durango. Driven to South Dakota last year and Cali this year; it is a GREAT road-tripper.

have you guys ever had any problems with the rotary shifter/knob not 'communicating' well with the "trans linkage" (a.k.a. - computer wiring)?  Every so often ours will not recognize it's in park and will sorta leave you stranded in place until you turn it off and/or make any number of rotating attempts to clear itself out before properly recognizing what it's supposed to be doing...?  Figure it either needs a computer re-flash at the dealer or possibly a bad shifter switch...?

I miss linkage...guy at work has a new ram 1500, when you turn the knob to D it chirps the rear tires...everytime.  There's a small delay when you select D and then BAM! it drops in and squawks the tires.

Yes!
We took ours all the way to Chicago and back driving Route 66 summer before last.
My wife is retiring next year. We've been talking about driving to the east coast for fall to see the trees.
I've always wanted to take a vacation during the school months. When she became a teacher, those plans all stopped.

The only thing I totally dislike about the Durango is that stupid knob shifter!
We had to take ours in for a safety recall for that stupid knob shifter.
With that recall... now every time you open the door and it's not in park... it automatically slams into park.
To many people were running themselves over because of that stupid knob shifter.
Did I mention how much I hate that knob shifter? ;D
Perhaps yours hasn't been fixed?
Stupid knob shifter.

I agree. in our 17 Pacifica, once I did not get it in park, pushed the button to turn off the engine, which would not shut off. When I opened the door, the radio did not shut off, if I had not caught that, I was close to stepping out, and could have easily got out with the car in reverse, and the engine running. Have not tested the 20 Pac to see if it does the same I quickly got used to double checking that it is in park, and also use the parking brake, which has the button right there. I also did not like that there was really no way to down shift. in Low, with a 9 speed transmission, you can go to about a whopping 5 MPH. Why the heck would they design it that way? The hybrid took care of the funky 9 speed.

the primary reason we did not do a Pacifica was because of the non-controllable transmission.  We'll be taking the Durango in to have the computer checked out and hopefully that'll cure the wacko shifter knob mis-communication problem...

If I had looked better, I may not have bought it because of that. But then I was used to the 06 Grand Caravan, it was all gears, or 1 & 2, so still not great for downshifting on the hills here, so who knows, there was still a lot that I liked about it. The Hybrid is a whole different animal, which fits our bill here for local driving. I would love to have looked at a durango, but our primary need for local trans, includes driving my 94 YO mother around. This is still a great comfortable highway vehicle.

We just got a 19' Durango r/t ourselves in octane red. Thank god it has the "t handle" shifter.  Strictly avoided the rotary nob years for a number of bad reasons that I read about online.  Has captains chairs, but no DVD's wife was upset about that missing option....

Funny I don't think ours has the stop, shutoff, start function? Am I wrong and missed it in the settings on the 8.4 uconnect?  At least its off I know that for a fact, if it is equipped.

Great looking Citadel Mad Max... if you don't mind answering what was the mileage and cost?  I paid 31k out the door for 37k miles. Couldn't find one better that wasn't white, over 35 thousand bucks, and 5 hours away.

Ours does not have the auto-engine-shutoff feature, and we have no gripes about that ;) - I'm not sure but I don't think the V8's have that "feature".  As far as the uocnnect 8.4.....ours does interesting things with electronics and that's about all I know - you'd have to ask the boss ;D

Ours cost about the same as yours and has 43k miles, but ours was 8 hrs away in South Dakota - I hooked up our flatbed and drove the dually up and back, listening to Harry Potter books on my Ipod the whole trip :) .  The 2-day trip up and back was smooth and uneventful - we love our dually  8) .

And yes we could have had any number of black, white, or grey trucks any number of times  :p

Good to know, I think you are right on both fronts they are the boss and V8's don't have engine start stop...

16 looks like the first year for it and only on the V6.

Even if you can shut off the "start/ stop" function... it defaults back to it. My friend has a newer Jeep Cherokee and it has that stupid feature. He hates it.
Along with the knob shifter... they can take those two stupid things back.
Can you tell I hate the knob. ;D
I think they eliminated the knob for '19 as you mentioned.
Another reason for getting a new one for our household. And an upgrade to the 392 in Destroyer Gray... after the Daytona gets built... ;D

At least for the Pacificas, there is an aftermarket device or something, that will default the start/stop to off. I drove a jeep with it for a day, and did not like it. After having one, I love the hybrid setup, and think it will be the future of ICE engines.
