Why can't I quit you RCC???
After a long hiatus and recovery from divorce I am back at it. Facebook marketplace can be a good thing. While cruising the local ads a couple weeks ago I found this derelict 1992 Ramcharger. Then found a donor 1992 D250 farm truck as well on FB and after a day was reduced to only the essentials.

Old smokey sitting in it's new home. Waiting on parts, but new fuel system will go in this coming week, as well as newer HX35 turbo with a 12cm exhaust housing followed by a custom 4" exhaust complete with a kick ass aeroturbine resonator.
Glad to be back, updates when I have them.

yeah it's pretty amazing how that can change your life give you a little bit of perspective take some time to rethink things. The plan for the CTD is to  do all the cheap stuff that you can to it, probably get the eighth inch timing bump rotate the fuel pin to the Deep Side, 366 spring, fuel preheater delete, grid heaters probably going to get deleted and then I think I'll enjoy it for a while and go from there I'm not going to get crazy with it the main focus of this project is just a cool driver that gets good mileage I'm not trying to win any races.

added a few more parts to the whole project. this story starts about 20  years ago while me and my brother were Scavenging through a Crusher yard when we came across the 1973 w100 four-wheel drive that just happened to have a big bolt pattern 8 and 3/4. so fast forward to a week ago when my memory caught up to me and remember this so after digging through a pile of about 25 axles I located that housing and axles

the UPS man also dropped off the body mount kit the 8 3/4 Strange 1350 yoke as well as the Spicer 1350 transmission yoke and the Vulcan draw straw.  I also got the front Springs pulled in preparation for the new heavy duty springs and KYB shocks. Also pulled the H1C and prepped the hX35 for it new home by replacing the back plate to accept a v-band clamp. Also the fed ex guy dropped off the new down pipe, one piece Dynonax tailpipe and the Jones turbine resonator. Also, got the Gates baricade fuel line ran

Too tired and no camera with me, but  I got the draw straw installed and the tank back in. Tomorrow I am going to finish painting the frame and hopefully get the front springs, shocks and turbo installed that way I can get the frame back under the body. Radiator also ordered and a small road trip in the manivan to get a good core support

Pretty productive...... draw straw installed, fuel system ran, frame painted, new core support painted and ready. New coils came in,  but rockauto shipped the coil isolators from another warehouse so on hold till Friday.

Have the new block heater and HX35 mounted up
    Pic 2, 3, 4
Exhaust ran and welded, had to add 3.5" to the dynomax tailpipe and clock it about 5 to get the right kick out by the tire.
    Pic 5
Snagged a factory front sway bar and got it mounted, but have to do some work to the end links thanks to an over anxious forklift guy and excessive rust. Also visible are the newly installed Moog 7172 HD coils and KYB shocks. I did not go for the popular 7172S (severe duty) as this is not a full size truck platform. I am really digging the stance and cannot wait to see how she sits with full weight as before it was way too low for my taste thanks to the Chicano chop coils
    Pic 6
Chassis ready to go back under after I get the Transgo shift kit installed, bands adjusted and filter/fluid change.
    Slowly getting there

Thanks for the kind words, my day job does allow me the luxury of using a nice shop, plus I get to show students my world and foster the desire to build there own stuff.
Last year had a kid take on a 3.8L/auto mustang to 4.6L/5spd swap after he scored a wrecked donor for $500.
This year I have one kid doing a 4 cyl./5spd to 5.2L/5sdp swap in his 94 YJ, the proud part for me is the motor is coming from this very ramcharger of mine!! Going to be a pretty good year.

    Wiring time!
After the engine swap was completely finish I hooked the diesel engine harness to the Ramcharger gas  under-dash harness and the truck did start but it lacked everything associated with the diesel components; like the information center and the Ramcharger was a  manual mirrors manual  windows and manual locks truck so I wanted to convert it. After spending 6 hours, cleaning and rewraping, time to put the diesel dash harness and power window, locks, and mirrors in!

You swapped the entire dash harness without pulling the dash? I'm at that point as well and debating if I should pull the windshield to deal with the rust now, which means pulling the windshield and might as well pull the dash to swap harnesses.

The dash harness is not that bad of a swap, just feed the fuse box and firewall junction down through the dash face opening then lay the rest in, took maybe 45 min. from start to finish after all the connections are made. The most difficult part was feeding the power window/locks/mirror harness behind the defroster vent, but taking out the 3 screws that hold it to the firewall made it easier. I also removed the front seats and console to make moving and laying down to hook up components easier.

Today I tackled the driver's side lower doorhinge. Repaired a couple breaks and removed the hinge pin to replace it tomorrow.

    Thanks for the response.

I had to do a similar repair to my jeep. I also cut out a small plate to double up the area where the latch goes.

After a family emergency slowed me down for the last couple weeks, I was finally able to put some miles on the RC. I have most the driveline bugs worked out, so it was time to move onto some other gremlins.
Pulled the cluster for the LED conversion and to replace the broken odometer gears. My gear was broken.
    Got my gears from odometergears.com
Pretty straight forward repair, fyi-you do not have to remove the speedo needle.

Nice work man.   I have been thru the divorce thing too.  And i persevered with building old Dodges and a few tin cans.  Up here in the Great Rust Belt nice old Dodges are harder to find than good looking women. (and usually cheaper).

So I was tired of some aspects of the redhead, mainly the super soft, cloudlike ride thanks to the 6-ply P series tires. I knew I wanted load range E 10-ply, I just needed some 16x7 steel wheels. After a couple hours I found a really nice set with caps and trim rings off a 96 1500 2wd ram on Facebook.
Now the 2nd gen wheels have a smaller 3.05" center hub, so a local machine shop opened them up to the required 3.520"ish size. Hankook Dynapro ATM 245/75 in front and 265/75 in the rear gives me the look and stance I was after and the ride I had hoped for.
Another benefit is the RPM's at highway speed are much nicer with the now 32.7" rear tire compared to the old 27.5"; also the speedometer is dead accurate now. Color on the rims is oil rubbed bronze just for shits and giggles.

Next I will address the atrocious headlights.

Well this followed me home a couple weeks ago.... 1991.5 intercooled 5spd 4x4 with 160k of hard farm miles on it. I am at a loss as to what to build....RC, Crew, W350 welding rig, or body swap with the really clean Grandpa truck I have had forever; I dont know yet 🙁
