Ram Jam 2013 location nominations
« on: January 6, 2013, 07:29:49 pm »
 Nominations:
Shiloh Ridge, Alto, Texas
Hidden Falls, Marble Falls, Texas
Rock Run Recreation Area, Patton, PA
General Sam's, Huntsville, TX
Rausch Creek, Pine Grove, PA

We have discussed locations for RJ13 but we haven't been serious.  If we are to have a successful event in this year, we need to start thinking and planning.  I think we should have a 2 week nomination of locations.  At the end of the nomination period we will have a period of discussion regarding (only) the places nominated before we vote on a location.

Once the location is established we will have a nomination period for dates and then a discussion on dates before voting on the dates.

As you nominate locations, I will place a list at the top of this post until the end of the nominating period.  For the record, I will close the nomination at midnight (at my house in the Central Time Zone) on January 20, 2013.

If you know guys or gals that aren't often on the forum, let them know what is going on.  Input after the fact is useless.  Complaints after the fact are less than useless.  Now is the time to voice your desires.

If, at any time, anyone wants to take over this project, I will be more than happy to turn it over.  I want us to have a successful event and if we don't get started it will be a hard time making everything work.

I vote for Shiloh Ridge or Hidden Falls. Even General Sams would work but its not tooo centrally located for everyone.

I'd like to see some pics of Shiloh outside the mudpit(s).  I went to their site and all the pics were of the mud pit or pits.  Are there different levels?  If I remember correctly, wasn't this the place with the drag races?

Not too far I guess.  I did a 5 hour drive to Dallas so this place should be do-able.  The RC won't be ready this year but the Red Devil is getting a V8 for Valentines if all goes well.

If it's July or after, anywhere in Texas would work, but I vote for General Sam's since it's the closest.

I'll post some pics from Shiloh Ridge when the nomination period ends.  They don't actually rate their trails but there are a number of trails that range from easy to moderate.  There aren't a lot of rocks but I did manage to bust a transfer case on a rock there.

Here's a listing of some places in Texas.  There's even one right by you Ron in Bryan called Brazos Valley OffRoad Ranch.  Do you know anything about that one?

It's right here on the edge of town.  It was a gravel or rock quarry and is said to have some good trails but it isn't open all the time and if it rains they shut it down.

It wouldn't do for Ram Jam.  I know some of the guys that actually run it and they are about as crazy as us but I haven't had a chance to make one of their meetings.  I might do that when the Willyreplica is up and trail ready again.

Fortunately, they don't usually salt our roads here.  If it looks like ice is coming, they throw what looks like dirt/ gravel and close all the freeways.  Hell, the whole city seems to shut down.

One of you guys should pick up Nick's rust free 82 RC for $1200.

It has seats and magnum 360 out of a 96 1500.

It needs computer tuning (MS2+) and little more. Has new 32" mud terrains on turbine wheels.

All the hard work is already done.

For the record, I will close the nomination at midnight (at my house in the Central Time Zone) on January 20, 2013.

If you have some other place you would like to nominate.  Do it today.  Nominations end tonight.

I don't plan on having a long period of discussion either.  I will start discussion on the locations immediately after closing the nominations.
