Ram Jam 2013, Hidden Falls Adventure Park - Labor Day
« on: February 24, 2013, 10:40:58 pm »
Okay guys this is now the official place and dates, August 31 through September 2.

There are lots of activities at Hidden Falls for that weekend and we will be one of the smaller groups.  Now is the time to make reservations if you want the house or the RVs that belong to Hidden Falls.  I don't know how long the reservations for the RV spaces will last either.

About the first of August we will turn in an list of known attendees for discounts.  Also note that Hidden Falls gives discounts for cash as opposed to credit. (There is a minimum number of trucks needed for discounts.)

For any that have not been to Hidden Falls, the rates are a little high but the facilities are great.  They have full time security during the weekends and lots of extras.  There are miles and miles of trails for trucks and ATV's.  If you bring a motorcycle or ATV, you must wear a helmet.

Hidden Falls is about 8 miles out of Marble Falls, Texas.  There are parts stores, Walmart, grocery stores and several nice motels for any families that would like to stay in a motel.

They sell ice at the office and there is usually plenty of firewood if you don't mind scrounging for dead trees and stuff in the sticks.

Volunteers are needed.  I will start a list of people attending in a few days.  Before August anyone wanting discounts will need to send me a little more information than what I will keep on-line so that Hidden Falls can verify us as we arrive.

We need some graphics made, both for a banner and for a bumper sticker.  In the past I have had them made here in College Station but someone else can make them if they desire.  I will have lots of kinfolk here this summer and lots of things are going to cost me a lot so I may need some help as we go along on these items if I get them printed in a timely manner.

Someone will need to be prepared for handling T-shirts if we are going to have some printed.  Graphics can but do not have to match the banner or bumper stickers.

Someone will need to volunteer to handle the door prizes and work with those donating same.

And there is always the problem of what do we do about a DVD from the videos and photos that we take.

    JUMP IN HERE GUYS.

We have been there and done that.  Almost exactly the same.  We got the blue Jeep in the bottom pic hung up in the fence and managed to get it out without any major damage to fence or Jeep.

I think we did a little safer recovery by tying my truck to something big and winching the Jeep up instead of having so many wheels spinning and people loose on the hill.

During RamJam last year there were a bunch of Toyota YJs there.  They got in trouble for damaging one of the fences and trying to get away without fixing it.

the RJ 2012 banner looks pretty awesome, i think we should use the same graphics but change it up a little. maybe a tx star or two. multiple photographers out on trails and obstacles would be nice. sign me up for the april meet. suggestion for t-shirt: I survived RAM JAM 2013. We will have a bunk space in the cabin we have reserved if you would like to participate.  It will be a coed operation but SixGun will be protecting the wife.  There is no bedding on the bunks.  At least a couple of us will be arriving about opening time on Friday.

Count me in, again. Lemme know where I can help. Took a loss on the T-shirts but I will take some of the heat for ordering extras. My T-shirt guy is pretty reasonable and available. That fence line trail has surely grown to a 5 or better. :o Even the bypass roads are getting tough. ;D But my rockers are still intact and I can pound the running boards (aka, rock feelers) straight again. :P  Hope T. Duster has his spare tied down and his front driveshaft to the right size. Don't know where he stands on his FAA certification. :o

O.k guys... we are planning events & handing out duties for the next Ram Jam.  The Texas guys are out in full force.. You need to do what you can do to make it.  Honestly I feel this may be the last Texas chapter hosted gathering without more support...

If you show up, you can wheel & if you break anything, you will have the entire community at your service.. Awesome group to wheel with...

Those who showed up are working to present everyone a good RamJam. But more help is always needed. We can't count on the same few to put out so much effort. They will get burnt out. Unfortunatly we have seen it in the past. And we have lost some very good members. So lets all work to make this all it can be.... ;D

It seems like I've seen that guy in the brown Jeep somewhere before ...

I reserve the 2 extra spaces around the cabin so that whole area is now ours for that particular weekend.  so that should give us a good start on keeping us all in the same area.

I personally have a lot of stuff to do between now and then. the Jeep took a beating last weekend so  I've got to spend  time on that  and the RC well that's a completely different story.

Somehow we at Team Danger Dave have to come up with some new entertainment this year. Not quite sure what is going to be but I'm sure I can figure out something

We will be posting some more pics and videos from our recent playing and planning trip soon.  We will also be providing more and more information as we go along.

We have a number of door prizes in the works and more will be coming.  We have some competition in the planning, including some things that we haven't done before and some that have been done at other parks as well.

We will have a few organized rides, rated for truck ability and equipment.  We will also stock a complete repair shop to keep as many as possible on the trail.  We successfully repaired broken driveshafts, u-joints, and more on this last trip and kept all the vehicles we had on the trail within a couple of hours.

We realize that it costs a lot of money for most of us to make this trip but it is a great place and we would like to see as many of our group and friends there as possible.  Please keep this Ram Jam in mind.

Me and my wife are thinking about going, it's only like 70miles. Not sure if we should brig out the v10 or just the jeep, I doubt there are many trails big enough for the V10 and its pretty stock not that it can't muscle it's way though or over most obstacles,

Dunno about that. I have a single cab longbed that insists on following Ramchargers, short beds, Jeeps and homemade rigs ;D Trails are usuall a little wider after I go thru. ::) If you value your shiny, clearcoat paint job (which I don't have), bring the jeep

Last year there were about 20 vehicles on Saturday.  Seems like we were never able to get all of them on the same trail at the same time.  Probably for the best since we had some minor traffic jams.  Lots of fun - no doubt about it.  It was really cool to see a long line of vehicles trailing up along the fenceline.  Bring both vehicles and play it by ear.  There were quite a few Jeeps last time.  I see that you have a California Chapter avatar.  If you have some videos or pics of any outings from there then bring them with you.  Last year we stayed up late into Sunday morning looking at old videos and pictures.  As far as paint goes, Texas scrub brush will undoubtedly give a vehicle some serious pinstriping.

Well I'm going back to Cali to take some leave, me and my father/brother and a few friends were gonna go "primitive" camping in the high sierras there is always good 4x4 spots up there if you can get to them. Ill be sure to shoot some pics and videos if we find anything, as for bringing both vehicles my wife will have to decide if she wants to drive her jeep out there. But you can count me in with the V10 for at least Sat/sun maybe more if I can get the days off

Something else to think about is if you have any kind of 2 way radio, bring it so groups can communicate...  Last chapter meet we had about 6-7 and it really helped keep everybody together....

Well, I'm now down in Houston working full-time.  But I only have my 2wd Silverado (DD) down here.  I'd love to go and still might try if I find someone to ride with, but my Ram is up in Indiana and probably won't be down here until the end of the year.

I will definitely consider it.  Right now I might be headed to South Padre Island that weekend, but I won't know for sure until a little closer.

I have been charged with rounding up door prises and giveaways for the upcoming Ram Jam. If you can supply any sort of bling, gift certificate or other item of interest, please contact me via PM.

Pickins have been pretty slim so far. I have made a "scrapebook" of pictures from 2012 RJ and am going to beat the bushes hard this weekend and see if I can break something loose. Figure I will hit (again) Advance, Harbor Freight, Auto Zone, O'Reillys and Discount Tire. Gonna also hit some of my regular eating places like Applebees, Whataburger. Free food is good, Right? ;D Maybe with some "proof" of the event, I can get some bling.

Hopefully the D150 is running good and the wife and I will be there Friday.  I was looking at the rates for the 4WheelParts group and may just say I'm with them to get what looks like a discount if I'm reading it correctly.  $75 for the whole weekend of wheeling and primitive camping?

I've been putting some money into the 76 RC and hopefully next year will be there with it.  Eric, the challenge is on to get your M880 going by next year's RamJam too.  2014 will be our year!!  I like the Jeep but damn, you've got some nice Dodge's at your place.  Sure would like to see them in action.

I just talked to Dave recently and he is taking the same 2 trucks but now the RC "Jumper" is a 4spd and the CJ "Stanley" is 18" wider among other things.  Pretty exciting to see what he does with his "new & improved" toys.

Any of you guys been improving your rides for this Ram Jam.  Let's hear it.

    I really want to meet some of the new guys and new rides for this year.  Should be a lot of fun.   {cool}

What's a Texas Ram Jam without some Texas Tee's? When we were shopping for some T-shirts for give-a-ways I saw this one.  Went to three Academys looking for larger sizes but could only find smalls.  Gotta love it.   ;D

:(  I gotta say that it's a sad day when your own site wouldn't  support their own annual event and a regional guy from 4WheelParts (spelled JEEParts  :P) was camped next to our group and gave us FREE T-shirts, caps, and even a free meal and drinks.  Our beloved RCC wouldn't even respond to PM's for support.  Hmmm... sad day indeed.

Other sad thing is that quite a few guys voted for Labor Day weekend and didn't even make the effort to show up.  Your loss guys cause we had a blast.  {cool}  Most of the group is still out there for the extended holiday.  Even met a great couple, Unfortunate Sam and his wife.  They even brought their wolf-dog with them.  Wheeled in his long bed V10 like a pro.  Another new RC guy Lance brought his new toy out and wheeled with us.  Lots of wives at this event and kiddos which really made it a family event.

Click on the link to see some teaser pics.  I know there is some video coming.  Lots of photo bugs out there this time around.  http://ramcharger.net/index.php/topic,154.msg2969.html#new

Dear SixGun...Looks like you guys having a good time up there. Me myself, i just got home from the hospital and have been there since Sat morning. We had planned on driving up to RJ2013 Sat. and possibly hitchin a ride with someone because my truck is still down. My dad who is 90 has Myelodysplasia and gets a few units of blood a week which one of them was this past Friday. We get a call from my sister who says we need to take him to the ER because the assisted living place noticed something wrong and called her. Sooooo after alot of testing and ekg's and everything seems they saw a mass on his lower left lung. After scoping this morning Dr. says it's cancer and there is also a small area on the bottom right side which might could be fixable except that aint no way my dad would survive kemo or being sedated for any kind of surgery in his current condition. He luckly survived surgery to remove the top section of his right lung when he was 83 to get rid of the cancer they kept zapping but would come back. So tomorrow after work i get to meet my sisters at hospital and have a pow-wow with dad and try to explain his not so good situation. We pretty much know what he's gonna say if he understands. I like to talk but this is not a talk i'm looking forward too. Note to you smokers out there. Please try to quit!! I'm quite sure the people that didn't show up to this RJ probably had goooood reason. Do i miss wheeling/representing with Skip,Ron,Sam,Will,Brad, and the rest of Texas Chapter? Yep!! Is there a little something more important to me going on at this time? YEP!!

:'(  Hey I am very sorry to hear this is going on.  My wife and I are dealing with smoking parents on my wife's side of the family.  They are not as old as yours but the shame of it all, they are already in bad health and could have a much longer life indeed.  There are still a lot of grandkids growing up and being born that would miss them dearly if gone.  My Mom is a 2 time breast cancer survivor and went through the surgery and and radiation therapy and when it came back they resorted to chemo-therapy.  It is an on-going process these days to keep it away with alot of drugs and blood tests and the like.  She even had a near fatal car accident from a bad reaction to some of the drugs they use. She didn't have a clue how she got that far since she has no memory of driving that day and now she can't drive and hasn't for years.  That's torture in itself and she's never been a smoker or drinker.  We feel for you and I'm sure all of RCC does as well.  I was not intending to offend someone in your circumstance and I am truly sorry.
