Ram Jam 2013 Date Vote (Majority Reqd.)
« on: February 17, 2013, 07:10:18 am »
This poll will run for 7 days.  I fear that with so many dates we will not get a clear majority.  As in location I want to see a majority vote.

This poll will allow you to change you vote if you desire.

Please feel free to comment about your reasons for or against any of the dates.

No write-ins.

    I've done a turn around on this.  I understand the guys that don't have the luxury of moving their off days around.  I don't like July 4th because that is more traditionally a family holiday.  (Also considering that I cannot go during that weekend)

    Labor Day is a long ways off, hopefully allowing me to get the Willyreplica and the RC up and going.  Anyway, we will need AT LEAST one planning trip.  Those of us that need to try out new motors, suspensions, vehicles and so forth can participate in the planning with a trip some time earlier.  That way we can come up with more volunteers.

    Well, if I'm gonna make it this year, like most times I will have to use vacation time.  Only problem is wife is really wanting to make a California trip to see some great friends we haven't seen in bout 3 years...  will just have to wait & see how things work out... As of right now I only have 88 hrs vacation time & a Cali trip would use most of that...

    While we are reading this topic, bear in mind that we need volunteers to make this thing work.  Whoever ends up running this RJ will need help.  The Texas guys (or anyone else who wants to help) will need to be thinking about what they do best and get themselves volunteered before someone has to start drafting folk.

    I have been thinking a little about it.  We are always too late to get some sponsors but someone(s) need to contact potential sponsors. {here}

    Someone needs to organize the attendance list and handle with Hidden Falls for discounts.  {contract}

    We need people to submit possible banner and bumper sticker designs. Someone will also need to handle printing of same. {lol}

    Someone needs to handle t-shirt designs and production.

    Someone needs to handle potential video chores.  (We also need to look at potential videos and determine if we can handle HD video or if we have programs to downsize it for use.) {pc}

    Someone needs to handle potential activities.  (I think we need to plan any events in a less public place.  I was afraid we were going to get civilians injured last time.  We also need to police the events just a little better so Dave doesn't injure himself again.) {popcorn}

    I'm also thinking that we should plan one organized trail ride through one of the harder trials and be prepared to winch a few if necessary.  (I bought a new winch just for this.) (well sorta)

    Hopefully we can pull in some new people this year so we will need some info on facilities and near-by stores, etc.

    Someone will need to be in charge of the door prizes and the "official meeting". {beer}

    And if the date ends up on Labor Day weekend, we will need AT LEAST one planning trip.  I'm thinking that I will have the Willyreplica ready for a test drive of the new changes about last April or early May. {cruise}

    What was that narrow trail we went on and took the videos?  Was that Bronco Buster?  That would be a place for Ernest to take the ferd.  Last time I saw it, a Dodge guy ran walked along side with a tow rope already attached to the front.  And, yes the front axle did give up the ghost.

    yeah it was Bronco buster. as I recall we decided they were confused when making the trail, some spots were narrow like a bronco II while others were hard and big drops or climbs where a bronco would die  ;D

    but we sure had fun going down it.

    it was the trail after that which was the more interesting. As I recall it required the use of 1's winch if you are 2wd... and a lot of praying and work if you were 4wd open dif with street tires.

    ah the memories ;D

    Since too steep of a stair step seems to be an issue for my 2x, I was thinking about getting a set of these babies from OK offroad.  What do you think?

    I remember not being able to see what was in front of me most of the time.  We really need to train Yolanda to ground guide.  I remember getting to the point of no  return and the trail was progressively getting tighter.  Whew....

    One thing to remember:  Don't ever trust the directions of the guy holding the camera.  He/she is not looking where you are actually going and really wants to get an impressive film.  That doesn't mean that where the camera guy directs is best for you or the truck.

    Skip can vouch for that.  We knew he couldn't fit in this ditch but we kept motioning for him to come on.  And, he did until he pushed a tire off the rim.

    If I didn't damage the camera that was in the rear bumper of the red truck when I pulled the bumper, I will have a camera at both ends of the Willyreplica.
