I was thinking about a 4x4 competition like street outlaws but like top ten truck challenge
4 groups of say 12 trucks each  ;D and no I already called dibs on the farm truck name ;D
I talked with a rep. from A&E discovery and at first he was hesitant that it was much like there new show were they race thru Alaska, but after more conversation he ask me to get more details

here was my basic plan and any insight from rcc will be considered

trucks have to be street driven no truggys ext. and has to be tagged  and legal there own state no tires over 44"
not to get in all the details but here is the basic idea
4 groups of 12 trucks...42 trucks A&E wouldn't talk money but there would be a payout even if I was to go elsewere to promote this, Keep in mind at this point its just an idea
north east/north west/south east/south west and split by a line drawed across a us map

5 course's would be set up similar to truck challenge with the 5th being in central usa for the final challenge
hills/obstacle's/mud and rocks an equal balance of all as not to benefit any of the 4 groups

example...north east vs south west and the winner takes on the winner of south east vs north west or vise
via a number draw or coin toss

I know this is nothing new just thinking of a way to have some fun

what do you think?

I do have a bit of experience with promoting motor sports venues  but was limited to drag racing
but hell even if they don't bite we could do it without them

Reason I wanted to give them a shot is they have deep pockets [maybe too deep] and dictate to much drama into the event...its a catch 22

Without them I would have to get sponsors like 4x4 equipment manufactures to sponsor it so every one who entered got paid something and the further you made it up the ladder the more you got paid

When I did it before it was like this...remember this was drag racing

We run a quick 8 pro street race at several local drag strips [Dixie pro street modifieds]
The reason we came up with it was because street racing cars were getting faster and we figured a way to do it at the track were it was safer

[note] it didn't work we crashed a dodge dart and killed a spectator...long story ask me later :-[

We kept the rules very simple

Pro tree, no bracket, heads up, Street tires and mufflers 3000 lb minimum weight
all our cars got in the track free
    all crew free also
we charged the track 5000.00 to put on the show [they filled the stands every time we came]
pay out was 1-1500 2-1000 3-800 4-500 5-250 - 6-150  7-100 and last was 50.00 so even if you was last you got in and raced for free and got paid $50.00 the balance went to us [A mere 150.00 pr race used for business exp. as we spent 1500.00 for scales to weigh the cars and whatever

anyway it was meant to be fun not a money maker

This would be quite different because unless you charged admission to the public you would have no way to pay the trucks, Other than a sponsored event

Just testing and this is the only place I'm getting feedback from

I was just using examples that's why I ask for ideas  ;D  I just figured 44s were about max to be seen as anything close to street trucks
That's what I hate about the truck challenge trucks on TV  damn rear steer truggys calling there stuff a truck face it its a buggy or a rig or a tank not fair to a real truck

     ;D ;D ;D

All the reality shows always turn into Drama exhibition, whether its scripted or not. 1. each episode needs to do a bit better then the last, to keep the viewers coming back. 2. The contestants/ actors, are not only competing for the grand prize, but they are also competing against each other for air time. They get the airtime, by outdoing the others with action, which will always lead to risky/reckless driving, and or over dramatic responses.

The producers do not want someone with tons of skill, they want folks that take risks, get emotional, and can articulate their thoughts on camera.

Seems may have to get pretty specific on entry requirements/exclusions.  Legal in home state may give advantage to some - don't know but guessing what is legal in states like MT,WY is much less restrictive than say CA, NY.

Yes, what legal here in Co, will get you donating to the policeman's ball in Pennsylvania, and getting your truck towed from the scene.

Yea I already figured on that WV has no lift law but the tires can't stick out past the fenders
VA has a lift law where they measure the frame
and so my thought was to use a single state law that was not restrictive but still in the ballpark that kept the trucks within street truck status

In our Dixie pro street rules we stated it had to be a street car and everybody just converted race cars [added headlights, and weight ext] but we only enforced extreme violations  like I said it was for fun

I was just using examples that's why I ask for ideas  ;D  I just figured 44s were about max to be seen as anything close to street trucks

    - ya I knew you were ;)  - I's just teasin'.  Besides...whilst my local PD friends assure me my truck won't be repeatedly pulled over...I'll confirm my previous statement if after a year of driving it around I don't have a center console full of violations.  I have a lot of work to do to get the removable fender flares and mud/rgravel flaps installed.  Even tho my truck is street legal, I still plan to haul it to/from the trails on my flatbed.  1) The tires are not cheap and I don't want to grind 'em off on the pavement, and 2) I plan to push it hard so breakage is always possible - hence the trailer.  But, in the event someone else breaks down, the trailer will be there and available, and I'll drive mine home.  It'll be a 'last resort' situation, but it'll still be possible.

Mine is still a 'truck' - it has leaf springs, wheel brakes, an emergency brake, and gearbox steering.  It's just an 'extreme' truck, and that's what I wanted.  I like pushing the envelope - time is soon coming to see whether or not I can drive it to the extremes too ;)
