    Been a few years since it was east of the Mississippi.... ::) ;D....the vegetation and trail width would be a factor I'd imagine....not quite as open as the desert....since truck builds/prep are influenced by the environments they are used in most of the time....that might be something to consider.... {think}

    I haven't done much wheeling in BC but I know Alberta trails can be pretty hard on sheet metal.  ;D Another thing to consider, is anyone traveling to Can from the US will save some $$, the exchange rate is really good for you guys right now

    ...I'm not suggesting RamJam 15 be in Moab, however a bunch of us are planning to be back there in October of 15 for a week-long gig - just sayin is all :)

    By March we're hoping to have both the tow truck and trail truck ready to roll just about anywhere so we're looking forward to whatever trails and wheelin' we can get in 2015 - sure hoping to make RamJam wherever it is {cool}.

    Also planning to hit the Iowa Power Wagon Rally in June {cool}

    I missed Moab 2014 so i would love to see it there again but mostly because it is close to me. Southern Idaho would be even better for me but not sure where we would go as I do not get out much.

    The most important thing in deciding where to hold a RamJam is finding someone willing to organize it. I did the 2005, and 2007, and it isn't that hard, but unless someone steps up to the plate, there won't be a 2015 RamJam.

    there's no reason why there can't be more than one RJ each year - most folks can't make it to one coast from the other - most, so if there are RJ's in two locations then folks have the option of either one, or both.  I think if there was going to be any 'guidelines' about more than one RJ/year, I think it might be just that the dates are at least two months apart, so the folks that may want to attend both can spread them out and try to make both {2cents}

    I have been told it is super nice and some trails are very challenging
    would be glad to help any way I can

    we had guys from VA and NC come out to Moab last year, and that was pretty impressive considering how far they traveled to do RJ 14.  That said, having more than one location simple makes big gatherings like RJ 'attendable' (I just made up that word  :) ) by more folks.  I really can't see any down side - if more folks are able to attend big gigs like these...hey why not.  It isn't like having two RJ's in separate locations makes either one less awesome or special...right? {noclue} {2cents}

    I have to travel at least an hour to do any good off roading

    If RJ is going to get split up to multiple locations why not try to go regional and do one every 2 months in different locations and then you have some winter wheeling in the snow. or at least 3 (east west Mid or south)

    Not to be a killjoy or anything, but I'd say if there is going to be a 2015 event, the selection of a location and planning should begin very soon.

    Do a Left - Middle - Right rotation...    Was out 'Left' last year in Moab, have it in the middle somewhere this year, and we'll host it out 'Right' next year...

    It'd be cool for multi-ram-jams in a single year...  but it was a big effort to get the turnout that show'd for Moab.  3 Rigs from way up North - 3 from way out East...  Quite a few others with decent hauls from the middle...    Take away those 8+ rigs that had to travel extensively to get there and attendance would have been...

    It's really hard to match all the varied trails that Moab has to offer as well... especially to fill up a weeks time.  Of course nothing says it has to be an entire week ha

    I see years past having decent turnouts from the larger more active chapters that were local to the gathering...  that's very cool.

    Anywho - there's my 3 cents...

     We could do a map with a given radius of travel, input attending members locations and where the most lines cross, see what's in that area for wheeling opportunities. ;D      750 mile radius of Odessa....

    I think the first issue is the type of event that's planned. Should there be an official RCC bash or just some members hanging out some given weekend at some centralized meeting point?

    one of the problems with big 'organized' events like we did last year at Moab, is the possibility of BLM (or other similar local organization) catching wind of the event, and then imposing requirements for permits, insurance, paperwork etc.  I managed to convince the Moab BLM that our gathering was small enough to not require permits and insurance, but I did have to take personal responsibility for the event and sign paperwork to prove it.  I also had to ensure all participants signed waivers that made each participant personally responsible for their own actions.  Anybody can sue anybody, and if a spotter guides you into a tree and bashes your paint job, well 'you could sue them' for bad spotting.  No bueno.  So, big events typically come with big responsibility, and that can discourage folks from volunteering to organize big gigs like RamJam(s).

    That said, sometimes the 'local gatherings' are much more fun and much less stressful for all involved.  Basically...plan a date and have a basic itinerary, and hopefully folks will come.  The problem there is...it may turn out that nobody can come, or very few, which also takes away from the fun - ie, why bother.

    A lot has to go right for a big gig like RamJam to happen, not to mention lots of personal schedules, time off from work - it's a tuff gig....but they are always a HUGE load of fun :)

    But, yes someone has to volunteer to be the event coordinator, and make their info available for folks thinking of attending to e-mail or call with any questions etc.  Decals are always cool as are tee-shirts.

    This year tho, I'm just gonna be a participant / spectator ;)

    Sam... Your dead on with the "headache" aspect of a large event. I think that's why "mobile" events have become so popular of late.

    In the past we have been a part of some fun rolling "tours" of Colorado as an example where we got in some amazing wheeling, great sight seeing and lots of enjoyable socializing with like minded folks doing the same.

    5 Days 600 miles and some great thrashing makes for a fun time. Evenings around the fires, or a local pub then back at it the next morning.

    That may be a bit more adventuresome than RCC would enjoy, not sure. Maybe something using the same concept scaled down would be interesting?

    Anybody can sue anybody, and if a spotter guides you into a tree and bashes your paint job, well 'you could sue them' for bad spotting.  No bueno.  So, big events typically come with big responsibility, and that can discourage folks from volunteering to organize big gigs like RamJam(s).

    - Sam

     This is a very good point Sam makes but just to share how bad it can get.  If anyone remembers a few years back  http://www.sportscarmarket.com/columns/legal-files/2108-carrera-gt-crash-settled-for-4-5-million.  The WIFE of one of the guys that was killed in this crash sued the FLAGMAN which are volunteers at these types of events, the argument was he should of held the Ferrari  until after the Porsche passed.  It makes no sense but that is the way the law works.  Its  great people still get together and  do these events but as Sam says its getting harder to do because even the parks don't want to get sued.

    I am hosting a small RC/TD meet at my house in Burley Idaho in August. no date set yet. It is being planned on my FB group and will be a 1 day run starting at my house. Everyone will be welcome to show up the day before and hang out till the day after. I have 4 acres and plenty of parking space for anyone who needs to spend the night we are just 7 miles from town so plenty of hotels as well. we have desert north of us and mountains south of us so not sure which way we will go but it will be a Saturday run.plan to leave the house at 8 am as either way will be about 45 minutes to the goat trails. I will do a poll for people to vote on which way we go on my group. for those who are on my group please talk about it here as I forget to get on here. we have about 10 or 15 members within 200 miles of me and most are planing to come. anyone who want to contact me about it can text or call me at 1-208-410-2271 and my email is [email protected]. my FB name is Rod IdahoRam Chandler. :)

    If you guys end up planning something out East I would love to help in any way. Unfortunately, cost is a big issue as far as driving out West. If there were an event out East my way (NC, VA, WV, TN) I would be 100% in.

    If any planners are reading this feel free to PM me if you need help!

    You guys know there will be some of us in Moab just about every year. So do what you have to so you guys can get together. I have no idea what my schedule past June is with new job and a bunch of other stuff going on. Doubting we will be in Moab Oct but you never know. But my wife has been three years in a row an is wanting to do the Sierras this summer. That's an area RJ worthy but is a long haul for most of you.

    I just had a grand idea, since there are several new tow pigs being built...lets have ram jam in the east and let everybody show off their tow rigs and their trail rigs!

    I can make a mid October Moab trip if it pans out. The Rubicon is on my bucket list, so maybe that can be a future RJ location. I wouldn't be able to attend anyplace east of Moab. The only reason I can justify Moab is because I have family in Utah.
