1985 Frame work On 1976?
« on: July 27, 2020, 05:10:20 pm »
What are the differences between a 1985 frame and a 1976 frame?  As far as will the Box, Cab, etc bolt up?

The 85 cab will have the very front mounts on the cross member under the radiator, the 76 may not have the holes, but could be easily drilled.

I think the rear cab mounts changed, but not positive, hopefully someone else will jump in.

The bed mounts are the same.

Both bumper holes are the same.

Not sure how the gas tank filler tube will line up. The mounts for the gas tank are different, probably best to try for the tank with the frame. Otherwise, you may need to swap the cross member where the tank mounts up to.

First pic is the 77, second is an 86.

I have a chance at the while 1985 truck.  Is the cab interchangeable? Can you bolt a 70's front clip and doors to a 1985 cab?

    Yes.

Might have a small issue with the VIN, the 85 has it on the dash, the early 70's has it on the drivers door.
