Need Your Opinions V1.2
« on: December 25, 2013, 02:15:04 pm »
This is my prototype holster. All handmade. The finish on this one is antiqued (because I like it) Tell me what you think.

    It's beautiful but doesn't match the polymer gun as far as style goes.  I'd expect that style to go with a 6 gun.

    It would work with a 1911. Black or grey for the poly guns maybe?

    Although it would look pretty good with a satin-finished wood gripped CZ.

    Perhaps a loop butt holder.  That looks like it could slip out if you run a distance, or fall.

    Other than that, you have the right idea.   {cool}

    While I agree on the "finish" not being right for the gun used in the pic it looks awesome.

    I bought a similar one (bulldog) for my Ruger LCP .380 in black.

    Not so sure about the design either. Is that a flower?  ;)

    better, but if there's a way to make the finish more matte it would be even nicer imo, or maybe matte with the flower glossy.

    Very nice work. Just out of curiousity how much you got wrapped up into it?

    The antiqued would look great with my .44 mag (minus the flower  ;)) but you would need about half a cow to make a holster for that thing. Would love a old western style rig for that but have a feeling that would get pricey real fast. (and it has to be cross draw. left side right hand draw. barrel is to long to have it on right hip)

    I've seen cross draws for that size go from 40.00 to well over 500.00. Doubt you want to carry your thousand dollar gun in a forty dollar holster, though. You look really silly dancing around when that big gun falls out of a cheap holster onto your big toe.   ;)

    This was just an idea I had to make small framed concealable holsters. Making large frame duty style or cowboy style holsters isn't practical as I don't have the guns to use for models. Even if I did, I'd charge way too much.

    Thanks for the input, gentlemen, I appreciate it

    Actually my hip holster that finally gave up (after 20+ years of use) was a nylon uncle mikes. Wasn't expensive at all. But now that I have to replace it think I might spend the money and try and find a affordable western rig.

    The only problem I had with leather holsters, was they wore the blueing off the contact points. If you consider a handgun a tool to be used, not a concern.

    I always oiled the holsters when I wiped down the firearms.  That helped form them around the bulges and bumps.

    Until they caught on, I would buy guns from one pawnshop, take them home and deep clean them.  I would bring them back and get a premium from another shop.  (It seems nobody else brought in clean weapons.)   ;D

    That was at the start of obamanomics.  He is the greatest gun salesman in the history of this country.  {yes}

    Well, I don't have to worry about bluing wear, it's stainless. ;)

    Nice move on the pawn shop action. Pretty slick. ;D
