Has anyone spray painted an old gun?
« on: February 26, 2014, 11:36:44 pm »
Has anyone done this?  I'm cleaning up an old 20 gauge single shot from my Dad (&  to see how well it did with skeet..) it hasn't been used in years & you can tell. Thing had lots of rust with all the hardware loose. I decided to clean it up & this is how it ended up... I still have some leaves to paint on it, but it sure looks better than originally... ;D

I did a base coat of Olive & trimmed with tan.  Think the leaves will be brown... All flat paint.

I did one of my old ARs.I just put down a base coat then used leaves and spray painted over them. Don't know if I still have any pics though.

Nice job on the shotty. Looks good. I buzz bombed my .308 bolt. It's the first one in the "show me your,,,, toys" thread. Just used high temp flat black and called it good. I have another mauser getting re-barreled and when it comes back it will get same treatment. (it's going to be my primary deer rifle so it doesn't have to be pretty, just has to work.)

I have a buddy that got into doing the duracoat. He's going to do my S&W 12 ga. Just going black with that as well.

i think this turned out good.. I put a satin clear coat over it & made it feel smoother.  This is the final look. I added some red leaves & grass...

No, IIRC I used Krylon camo colors. Used a couple of leaves as stencils. When it got banged up enough I'd just spray a shot or one or two colors on the blemished area.
