Thought this would be the best place to ask: my 1st gen is a daily driver, rust isnt too bad currently but I know as the years go on it will get worse as all old mopars do, when it comes to the point where the structural frame needs rust repair, what's the best route? Junkyard a replacement frame rail section, fab it up with new plate, box the existing section in with new plate, etc? Just curious as to what you guys do/ have done, i plan on keeping this truck for a long time, big TIA

When my frames have rusted through, I just scrap the truck and get another one.

Prevention.

You don't have to just let it rot, Use a product like por15 or Eastwood rust encapsulator, then spray a high quality bar chain oil/kerosene mix before and during winter months(wash salt off first).

Keep it oiled and washed, you won't have issues. Can also use the bar chain oil or atf inside rockers, and spray down through window seal to bottom of doors.

Don't use rubberized undercoating.

It takes some work but it's well worth it
