Roof rack ladder
« on: December 11, 2020, 09:49:02 pm »
Hey guys hope all is well. So I've been on the look out for a ladder to get up to the rack I finally built but there seems to be nothing available online.

My question is that on my Sequoia the Gobi folks design their ladders to mount to the liftgate allowing it to still function properly.
So can I also do the same with the RC liftgate without any loading issues?

Or is this something I just need to fab to be able to remove and install just as needed? I would then need a way to store it I would guess.

I did try a forum search and didn't find much except that eBay RC for sale.

Thanks guys!

When I was doing design work for the ARMY, the shelter that sits on the back of the HMMWV had flip down handle/steps that bolted to the side of the wall. As shown on the unit below. It's an option. Maybe fastenal or grainger have them?

I would not try to add anything to the liftgate.  The hinges are already a weak point and adding a person's weight to the fiberglass is going to be a recipe for disaster.

I would go K.I.S.S. and just use a folding tire step like this one:

Great ideas fellas thank you. I want to say I just saw those hinged steps somewhere local recently. I'll need to keep my eyes out.

So I checked out that tire step on Amazon and jumped into the questions area and check this out.
    This was great.
