I am going to get some prices from the shop that laser cut the uprights out of this week. I'll let you know what they'll be. I don't have a drawing of them. I might offer the bent hoops also.
    Thanks for asking!

I think Jim has BendTech.  Just about all the popular benders come with it as a package or for a little extra.  It's a really good program once you learn it's tricks.  I've been playing with ours for a little while now making all sorts of things that we don't have time to actually build yet, lol.

Definitely get it.  We got it with our JD Squared Model 4 and it's very nice.  After the initial pain in the butt to calibrate the program, it's a breeze to use.  It will allow you to build stuff on screen and estimate how much tube you will use, where to bend, etc.  Well worth the money and will pay for itself by preventing a lot of wasted tube from bend mistakes.

yeah ..i use both the wrappers and the degree "out puts"......
I just write the degrees on the wrapper and then set the notcher up...
tape it to the tube via the alignment marks and it's time to rock out dude.

I need to get a bender of my own and Wonder what you used. I can get a dies for my Buddy's exhaust bender but the company wants a grand for 4 dies. I have a original brush guard off a macho ram and am going to reproduce it for sale. I also have gen one Nerf bars and a factory macho roll bar. how much was yours and how big of tube will it doo.

An exhaust bender is NOT a tubing bender.  Don't waste your time or money on one.  the dies for most tubing benders are in the $100-$500 range.  We use a JD˛ Model 4 and are very happy with it.  If I remember right, it uses the same dies that Jim's does.  Unless you plan on doing a lot of rollcage or chassis fabrication, there isn't much justification for buying a bender.  If you are just wanting a couple projects done, you are much better off farming the work out to someone close to you so you don't have to mess with shipping.  A manual tubing bender will usually run you in the neighborhood of $300-$1,100 for the commonly used benders in the off road world.  Add a hydraulic kit and dies and you are looking at much more.  Our Model 4 was about $2,200 for the bender, hydraulic kit and stand and then you can figure we probably have another $1k in dies.  The largest tube that most of the light benders can do is 2.5".  If you want to go to 3", which is the common size for a lot of the old rollbars and "nerf bars", you are probably going to have to step up to an industrial bender which is big bucks.

    I agree with Lanty.
My bender wasn't bad but the Dies add up quick!!!!! You will also want the hydraulic kit. I added the hydraulic kit to mine this summer & love it.  Most all of the exhaust benders WILL kink or deform the bends where the tube benders will not kink the tube.

I have seen several types of benders. I would perfer a tube bender that goes from 3/4 to 5" to expand my market share. I don't mind spending the money to make money. i know exhaust pipe benders king thin wall tube. I have used it to bend thicker tube for a roll cage it did distort a little but did a decent job. Thanks for the info i will add it to my research.

On the other note the tubes you made for your truck are a little different then the style I have. But thanks for the info.

I really don't think you want to get into bending that large of tube.  According to TrickTools, a bender that does 3" is going to run you about $10k, one for 4" will be about $75k and both will need a large space to put it in.  Something that does 5" is probably going to need it's own building.  TrickTools lists one that does up to 5.5" inch round tubing and it's a CNC machine that weighs 35k lbs.  Most chassis and off road tube work is 1.5", 1.75" and 2" diameter, usually .120" wall.  Anything larger is overkill and added weight.  I know what 3" .120" wall DOM weighs and it's nothing you really want to try and build something out of and then ship it somewhere.  Tubing benders usually fall into two "classes".  The home hobby and small fab shop benders and the large industrial benders.  The home hobby and small fab benders usually stop at 2.5" diameter tube, everything else is industrial, really big and really expensive.

Wow you know your fab tools. I am only wanting to bend 3" and bigger exhaust pipe for the diesel guys. I would rather use a exhaust pipe bender and make some dies to do other stuff My buddy retooled a few 2.5" dies and gets bends that don't look like they were done on a exhaust bender. Smaller Dom tubing will bend fine in the exhaust pipe bender if the dies were set up different. I looked into mandrel bending a few years ago and the equipment was big money. Would make nice parts but not to cost effective. Thanks for all the great info. What do you charge to bend some tube the way I need it? I know shipping can get a little pricey. They basically have a bend that looks like this "  [___]    ". two bends but I want it done in one piece.

Jim can probably hook you up with bent tube of that diameter.  We haven't bought the dies to do the small tubing yet, mainly because I haven't had the money to start on my roof rack yet.  ;D

Keep in mind that exhaust pipe and DOM tubing are completely different.  Exhaust pipe benders are expensive ($1,200 and up) but can normally  a wide range of pipe diameters.  Most exhaust benders come with a few standard dies also.  A structural tubing bender is for heavy wall DOM, HREW tubing and certain kinds of pipe, though each normally takes different dies depending on how it's made.  You can't bend exhaust tubing on a bender meant for DOM and vice versa.  A tubing bender like ours would simply split open the exhaust tube and crumple the inside of the bend.  Putting DOM tubing in an exhaust bender will flatten the bends and in the case of a friend's experiment, blew two hydraulic hoses resulting in some nice second degree burns on his legs and chest.  I told him not to do it.  ;D

zandorf I could do your hoop for you for $74.00 + shipping. It looks like a little more length of tube & less 2 bends. At that price I offer 1" OD .120 wall DOM tube. It would also not be welded, painted or chrome plated. You would get the hoop bent up with a little extra length that you would trim to fit & the verticals would be cut to length & fit to the tubes(fish joint).

It looks nice, but what are you attemping to keep from your grill? If you hit anything the upfrights will fold back and take out your grill/lights.Plus it looks to be mounted on the stock bumper.I suppose it will keep grass and tree branches away, but it looks like in a crash it might cause more damage to your rig because it will fold over and take out your grill.Although if you wanted to you could run a bar off each side bar and angled back to attach to the end of the bumper. It might make it not fold over so quickly.

It does look nice with some good fabrication though..It just might end up scoring an "own" goal.

Jungle wasn't building it to go hard core off-roading, but to duplicate the grille and brush guards that were the common accessory when these trucks were new.  They good for keeping brush from breaking the headlamps and plastic grille but anything that would destroy the sheetmetal is probably going to crush the brushguard as well.  Essentially, it is a brushguard in every sense of the word, but not something that would protect the truck from a frontal collision with another vehicle, tree, rock, etc, which is exactly how the originals were.

Like Elwein said it is fashioned similar to the late 70s Dodge brush guard. The center section is very strong but if you crash it's not designed to prevent damage. It just doesn't mount to the front of the bumper it also wraps up in behind it & catches the frame. It's also a nice place to mount your offroad/driving lights.

Jungles design is very sound, I can attest that the uprights on the old 70's/80's push bar, will take a strong hit, without folding as you insinuate. His design also has the lower bar/ hitch, which will add strength. Short of replacing the bumper with something that looks like it was stolen from a locomotive, you will be hard pressed to find anything better.
