Roof rack?
« on: September 4, 2020, 04:38:36 pm »
Has anyone come up with an idea on best way to mount a roof rack? I saw an old feed from 2012 with a good idea using the rain gutters. Iíd like to put a roof tent but Iím an easy 250 and I donít think the roof will support all the weight. Any new ideas would be great. Iíve seen Jeeps with exterior frame style racks that looked like it mounted to the vehicle frame. Donít know if thatís feasible. Thx.

The weight capacity of roof gutters is more for when the rack is loaded up and your bouncing down the trail. The gutters should support the weight of a RTT + you when the truck is stationary. If nothing else you could always reinforce the roof with some steel plates inside the bodywork or a rollcage..
