When making a suspension link is it better to use LH and RH rod ends for ease of a adjustment or is it better to have all the rod ends be the same direction so if the jam nuts loosen up the suspension geometry does not change?
I am working on a suspension lift for my 84 Nissan 300zx turbo so I can run more durable tires for gravel roads.The front suspension is a strut setup with a tension rod to locate the control arm.Currently the tension rod has a rubber bushing at the body end and is bolted to the control arm.However, it will not tolerate 2.5" lift of misalignment for very long without bending or breaking.I could lower the mounting bracket for the tension rod but then it could get snagged on obstacles.So I was thinking of remaking the tension rod to use polyurethane rod ends at both ends to allow the suspension to cycle without binding and hopefully keep the tire centered in the wheel wheel.
The car is gonna be on gravel alot so vibration resistance and overall increased durability would be a plus. Its also worth noting that I already bent the existing tension rods simply by using all of the suspension travel in the struts.
