I'm in for details.   I think especially when you are posting after the fact and not asking a lot of questions, you aren't going to get much feedback.

I am not good about chiming in on forums unless I think I can add first hand knowledge to what is being presented, but I love seeing projects like this where you show details of what you did.    I thought the details of the fender cuts and intercooler install were really cool for instance, but not having done either, I didn't have much to add.

Maybe just do a massive picture dump and see what gets questions?    In either case this is an awesome project and it came out really nicely.

    The seats themselves are black leather heated power seats from a 2001 Dodge Durango. Make sure when removing them you get all the wiring and plugs. There is also a little brain box that run the seat heaters that's in the center console.

    Starting with the rear seat it was like it was meant to be.

    The first pic shows how they are mounted to some 6"x3/8" plate (or 8 can't remember). There are couple reasons for the plate. First is that the seats mounting bracket holes don't line up very will with the floors corrugations. Another is i wanted the ability to be able to remove the seat from the vehicle without a second person having to crawl underneath to put a wrench on a nut. I accomplished that by drilling and tapping all the bolt holes in the plate that the seat mounts to.

    To mount the front plate was just a simple matter of reusing the pre-existing studs in either corner from the old seat and then drilling and bolting out a couple of more holes in the middle for some extra insurance. Rear didn't have the pre-existing studs but once again just drilled and bolted it down on the high spots.

    The rubber matting was a freebie from a friend when he was cleaning out his garage. Not sure what it was for or from, i just gladly took it home and cut it to fit.

    In the second picture you can see the near perfect width of the seat itself. The only issue not pictured is they originally come with handles on the side for releasing the seat latch. They were rubbing the wheel wells which you can see in the first pic if you look closely at the white markings so i removed them. If one wanted to keep them it would just be a simple matter of applying a 4lb metal massager to the offending sections if you haven't already painted like i had. Really though there is no need to have 4 latches to pop the seats up. There are 2 red latches on the backside of the seats that work perfectly fine and can be seen in the first picture. With the removal of the side handles the seat fits damn near perfectly and no one will ever know, notice nor care about the little knurled knubs leftover.

    And in the third pic you can see her in all her glory. The last piece of the puzzle though is the seat belts. The Durango rear belts were shoulder belts not lap belts. This means the two outer belts are missing the straps and don't work. Low priority for me since no one ever sits back there except the dog but could pose an issue for those of you with kids. My eventual goal was to try and get my hands on some black bench seat buckles and try and mcguyver them into working some how. If someone follows my guide and figures it out before i update this post please share your solution.

    For the front seats they require a welder.

    The fronts originally come with feet on all four corners that are riveted on. One might be able to finagle some kind of mounting system that let you retain them but i stared long and hard at them and decided they would make the seat sit way to high. As you can see from the back of my seat base is maybe an inch off the floor (can get measurements if someone needs them) and the old bracket was probably 2-3+ inches not including what you would need to raise it to attach it to something.

    What i did was ground off the rivets, removed the feet and then welded a piece of flat-bar across the front and back. Welding it on is required because a bolt would interfere with the seats travel since a bolt head sits higher than the old rivet which was low enough to clear. There were a couple of benefits to doing it this way. One is it raised the seat up off the seat base and gave clearance for the motor and mechanisms without scraping the seat base. It gave enough room to squeak the wiring harness underneath towards the center console. It also allowed me to drill and tap the flat-bar just like the rear seat for quicker and easier removal of the bolts.

    The seat base itself is way overkill. Honestly i had just bought a cutting torch and wanted to play around with it so i bought a sheet of steel and chopped it up to make them. Probably weigh 20-30lbs each. Some small things to note in its construction is that the part that bolts to the floor is offset from the top. The hump in the floor is narrower than the seat itself. Its hard to see but the second picture shows this offset the best and once you notice the offset the two vertical gussets on the side that you can see in the first picture then makes sense. The steel is probably thick enough it didn't need any kind of gusseting but once again i was just having fun doing some metal working. I even welded a lip on the bottom with some leftover metal so things didn't slide out if i stuffed something under there.

    Pic 4 shows how the seat belt conveniently bolts directly to the seat itself. This stud on the seat is specifically for the seat belt even in the Durango, i didn't re purpose it. It just works out very nicely.

    Pic 5 shows how i jumped the wiring under the seat edge which was raised up by the flat bar and also the strain relief as it goes into the side of the center console.

    Pic 6 shows where i mounted the seat heater buttons and the 12v accessory plug. Not pictured is the seat heaters brain box which is mounted inside the console. You can actually see the two silver bolt heads holding it in place. The smiley face is just some never seize that got on there while i was doing some work and i need to clean off (heater core failed on me). Also not pictured is i ran some 12AWG from the battery down the framerail under the cab and into the bottom of the console for the heaters and motors as well as ignition switched 12v to operate a relay. Having the switched relay in there allows me to keep power to the seats while the ignition is off but the seat heaters lose power and doesn't kill my battery. The 3 black screws are unrelated and used to hold my cup holder tray in place.

    Now that that's done I'll probably do a review of the soft top next. Long story short... its a piece of shit. Stay tuned for the next episode in 2 weeks.
