100 ways to cook Top Raman!
« on: January 16, 2007, 10:15:21 pm »
Ok, I have been extremely poor at many times in my life. I have had to eat top raman 3 meals a day for weeks on end. I still eat it. Here is the challenge. I bet we as a group of culinary expert's can come up with 100 different ways to make it. what you mix in with it, how you eat it ect. I will start it off with one of my favorite way's to eat it.

I love to eat it dry. Right out of the package. It has a nutty flavor. Pattie can tell you i munch it dry all the time  ;D

Fire away people !

Raman and cheese? After you drain then throw some velvetta cheese.....or you could make some cheap beef tips with a english roast type cut of meat...that could be good.

I like to put massive amounts of pepper in it. Sometimes it gets basil, or oregano. I try to avoid ramen now. It's very salty.

O ya. I keep low sodium bullion in the spice rack to help add extra flavour.

    1. Get cup ramen and at work, use hot water from coffee machine and let stand with lid on for 3 mins.
    2. Eat the salty noodle goodness

(when cooking on stove at home I like to add 1 extra bullion cube)

I'm a huge fan of this.  I do it every time I'm sick.  I use peas and two shots of habenero sauce too.

For those of you that like mongolian bbq this one is similar to what they do.
Heat a pan to medium to high with some sesame oil ang veggie oil.  Drain the noodles and flash fry them.  The pan has to be hot to sear in the moisture or they will just dry out again.  Some chili pepper flakes, a dash of soy, and some hot sauce.  A little egg and some frozen veggies ala albertsons freezer dept. and you're rolling for under a five spot.

take leftover pork chops, slice into bite size pieces. usually one decent sized chop is enough for one pack of ramen
chop a couple of green onions

cook ramen in microwave without seasoning packet, just water. 3-4 minutes or until ramen just starts to seperate

when noodles are about half done, drain 2/3 water, add cayenne or other hot spice of choice to noodles, add approx half of seasoning packet or more to taste, toss in pork chop pieces, add a small amount of green onions, stir mixture together.

place mixture back in microwave for a couple of minutes until onions and pork are good and hot and noodles are JUST done (no slimey noodles allowed :P).

remove from microwave, add soy sauce to taste and enjoy

    eric

ps: next time i may have to try the egg as well

    Try adding veggies.
Corn, peas, or carrots work really good to spruce it up.

I never use the whole seasoning pack per 1 pack Ramen. If I make 2 packs of Ramen, I will use about 3/4 of a seasoning pack.

Also, you must try it before you knock it. Add a spoonfull of Sour Cream to an undrained batch of Ramen. It will not look all that good, but trust me, after the first bite, you'll get over the looks really quickly. It's a pretty good twist.

I usually drain all the water and only add about 1/2 a packet seasoning to 2 packs Ramen

Funny though, I haven't eaten it in over 2 years now. Edi feeds me much better meals  ;D

i ve added a slice of kraft and milk instead of water...pretty good.

my favorite is the new lime shrimp flavor. its not just salty is tangy too! reminds me of tequilla shots w/o the hang over ;D to add to the festiveness i douse it in texas pete or franks red hot, add a bit of water and LOTS of bbq sauce.

If I have some leftover steak I'll cut it up in thin strips and add it to it after I have drained most of the water off and added most of the beef seasoning packet.  There is no need to heat the steak because the heat of noodles/water re-heats it.  Otherwise I eat it just noodles and the seasoning packet (I drain most of the water off it).  Sometimes add a few fresh veggies like broccoli or snow peas.

I never thought I would ever look at this forum, much less post on it :)

I had to look up Top Raman to see what it was. It┬  helped to spell it correctly.

Anyway, in my search, I found 42 ways to cook Top Ramen.

ok i normally cook 2 packages at once. once the noodles are boiled i drain out aout 90% of the water (into a cup or big glass) then I add about 2Tbs  of butter and 1 packet of seasoning to the noodles and the othe to the wate to make broth. it turns the noodles creamy and the broth is just good. i normally don't addany meat or the like to mine do to the fact that if I'm eating TR i am broke. which means + have eaten everthing else normally eaten, not offten do I eat TR just eat it ya it's good but it doesn't offer the nutrition needed to get tru a day.

Found a new way.  Cook it like normal and add just a touch of green curry paste.  GOOD.  Spicy.

    It's like thai soup.

This is one I just did a few minutes ago, the idea hit me earlier.

Bake a potato in the microwave ( took about 1:30 to bake it in the microwave)
Chop up the potato into smaller chunks, coat them with a thin layer of butter, so they absorb it.
Let it sit for about 30 seconds
Throw in a half pack of ramen noodles on top of the potato chunks, add water (leave the butter in)
Microwave it, drain off the water.

I then dropped a little bit of butter in (maybe half-teaspoon) on top of the noodles, and mixed in my usual amount of the seasoning pack, stir well.

MMMMMMMM  ;D  It was really good  8)

Add cooked hamburger meat to the beef flavor ramen for more substance.

Stir fry cooked noodles with soy sauce to make a nice lo mein side dish.

Cook them fully drain add seasoning packs crushed up crackers as a binde and to dry it out more to mad it pasty like a dough. Roll it out like a pizza dough add one can of chilli on top cheese sauce, jalape˝os,small diced summer sausage, hot pickle, homeyand then sprinkle crushed up nacho Doritos and hot sauce and dive in.. You could swap out the chilli for BBQ beef as well. I learned it in prison, lol. Every time I bring it up to people they look at me all weird but trust me its pretty awesome..

boil 2 chicken thighs with some vegetables (carrots, onion, celery, garlic) for about 30 mins. remove the chicken (save for dinner, i cook it on the grill). toss in the ramen and cook as directed. pour in half a can of tomato sauce and stir. eat

Chuck Norris style. Drink the boiling hot water, eat the noodles raw and snort the seasoning packet.

I actually laughed out loud. That's f-ing funny right there!

I haven't read all the posts, I'm cooking chicken thighs right now so I'll have to read them in a few and I may be repeating here, but I like to cook them in the water, drain them before they get anywhere near mushy, then melt a little butter or margarine in the microwave and mix the seasoning packet in the butter and mix into the noodles. Pretty damn tasty
