I have only limited W8 experience.  What is the email program you're using? If it's outlook, can't you go to a junkmail folder/inbox and find it?

My last tower was windows xp, by no means am I competent with a computer, when it crashed it couldn't communicate with monitor-probably other issues. New laptop seems willy nilly on what gets sorted as junkmail and although I can read the message, I can't respond or figure out how to pull it out of junk mail.

You should have some option - a pull down menu or right-clicking the message to give you an option to categorize it as "not junk" or "move to inbox"
