Turn Signals Not Working
« on: September 8, 2012, 12:43:30 PM »
The turn signals in my 1980 Dodge Aspen stopped working. My fuses are good, and my hazard flashers, headlights, and brake lights still work. Could the switch be the problem? ???

flasher unit. swap the hazard and the turn signal flasher units and see if that works.

If not it's time to get out the testing equipment.  ;)

Get out the multi-tester and find out where the 12V is and where it stops.........  {yes}

It has power at the fuse. Ive also cleaned all the grounds, and the signals still wont work. Is the turn signal switch  difficult to change?

More testing is needed.

Do you have power to the relay?
Do you have power getting to the switch?

I have power to the relay, and power to the switch. Just when I use the test light on the switch, it will only blink when I have the hazard flashers on.  ???

Yes. and there was a wire that was unhooked behind the fuse box that goes from the relay to somewhere else. I just plugged it in where the other relay gets power behind the fuse box.

Ok so you have power to it, you have power coming out, you have power to the relay, you have power out of the relay but they don't work.

That leaves on thing, power from the relay to the signals. Not the switch.

You need a wiring diagram to figure out where you lost power to the signal lights.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 1980 Dodge Aspen? Also when I turn the hazard flashers on, only the front park lights flash.

Check with Deano........ "Dodgeboys" on here.  FSM

Sounds like you have wiring issues other then your turn signal switch.
