Transmission kickdown linkage

I own a 1984 Dodge Ramcharger with a 360. It has an automatic transmission (727 torqueflight).

I bought a Holley Carb 650 cfm Double Pumper with mechanical secondary Part number 4777C.

Well, the transmission kickdown linkage wont work and Holley doesn't sell it for auto trannys. They said I would need to fabricate something to make it work.

Does anyone out there have this same carb or a fabbed linkage laying around to fit my truck or offer any suggestions?

I'll figure a way to make it work but if someone out there has already dealt with this problem might have an old carb with the fabbed linkage lying around I could use or buy or whatever?

As many holley 650 double pumper carbs out there, theres bound to be a ramcharger out there with one on it that someone else made to work or the parts lying around to do so? If you can help in anyway with parts or advice please respond, Thanks John

I use a lokar kickdown and it works great. You can get them through www.summitracing.com and the cost is around 40-45 dollars.

I had to fabricate a longer bar for the top of mine ( i am running a holley 750) which was pretty easy and cheap (about 5bucks in parts). The holley chrysler kickdown adpapter will make sure are at the correct level.

Like Thanos said, for a cheaper solution, you need to get the Chrysler Throttle Lever Extension from Holley (p/n 20-7) and add a Chrysler throttle stud. From there, you may need to lengthen the exixting parts to get it to work properly. Don't drive without it (it's bad for the tranny)!

I added the extra length plus adjustability by cutting the rod once in it's horizontal section (along the intake), and once in it's vertical section (down along the firewall) and then added some threads. Then rejoined the sections with 3/8" coarse threaded couplers (like for all-thread). This can add from 1/2" to 2" with each coupler added.

I know Bouchillon Performance (Bouchillonperformance.com or their ads are in Mopar Action mags) makes a kickdown cable kit. Supposedly fits all RWD carbs and combos. A cable sounds much better than a rod for clearance and such. Maybe that'll help ya.
I use this product with great results. It is not cheap however it looks like it was made for my rig and is high tech looking.

how hard was it to install?

I extended my kickdown linkage to make it work with my 4 barrel, but i have been told the lokar makes the kickdown much easier to adjust if needed.

Thanks everyone for all the info I received, I was able to use the linkage off of a dodge van I found in the junkyard! You all are awesome, Thanks again, John (luvbeagles)
