Need info. on 75 W200 PowerWagon Sno-Fiter package truck
« on: December 24, 2008, 10:20:18 AM »
Just brought home this 75 3/4 ton truck. Its got the factory paint still in decent condition with the Sno-Fiter reflective stripes still on it. Just wondering where I can locate any or all info. on this particular truck with its options? I did not get the Plow stuff with it. Dont really think I would ever need it in Vinemont, Alabama either but would be good to know any info. available on these trucks.

First off, welcome to the site, BDD!!!   {beer}

Sno Fiters and the later Sno Commanders were Dodge's factory-packaged plow trucks.  Basically, they're identical to any other standard Power Wagons or Power Rams of the same vintage and GVW but were equipped with a ready-to-use power angle and lift plow setup with in-dash controls, heavier front springs, running lights, and the stripe or decal kit.   ;D

Thanks guys, glad to be aboard.... ;D
Previous owner tells me that this 75 I just got has Dana 44 front/8 lug and Dana 60 rear/8 lug with 4.10 gears. Also said its got 727 Auto and 203 Tcase? He is also giving me an spare Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front/both 8 lug, and a full set of new dual exhaust from another truck he just parted out.
Has 360 engine with 4 bbl. Edelbrock carb.
I still have to go pick it up this Sunday. Its killin me to have to wait, but thats my only day free to break loose and go get it.
I have posted up a few pics he sent me of it in the Pics section here on the board.
Were these trucks all LWB models? Mine appears to be a LWB from what I can tell in the pics.
I was also wondering if they all came with cut out fender flares like mine, or has this been added for me special?

Once I get it home, I will punch in the vin. no. and see what it tells me.
Check out the pics, and tell me what kind of price one of these in this kind of shape would possibly be expected to sell for?? Just to make sure I did not get Spanked on this deal.... :P

That particular Sno Fiter really doesn't look too bad, BDD, compared to what most plow trucks of the era look like these days.  The windshield is beginning to fog around the edges so it may need to be replaced at some point in the future depending on how strict Alabama inspection requirements are.

It would also appear that truck may been modified with a mild suspension or body lift, but that's difficult to say with any certainty due to the smaller size of the tires.

I've seen plenty of Sno Fiters and Sno Commanders with the 131" wheelbase but not any shortbox versions as of yet that I can remember.  Late seventies Ramchargers and Traildusters equipped with the Sno Commander package were fairly common in my neck of the woods back in the day but, unfortuately, major rust and corrosion and driveline problems caused by their intended wintertime use have claimed many of them over the years as well.   ;D

Sweet. Thanks again guys for the info.

This truck supposedly was rescued from Colorado before it got much use as an actual plow truck and brought to Alabama. The guy I am getting it from told me the only actual rust he has found is in the inside bed area, which should be no big deal to repair and cover with a good quality bed liner.

Sucks that they cut the fenders and installed aftermarket flares. Would have been a nice  Survivor truck if it werent for that and the plow components not coming with it.

But on the other hand, since this will be my next project rig for Offroading, the flares are much welcomed cause they should allow me to throw some larger tires on it with little clearance issues.... ;D

Got to drive this baby home today. Now its sitting in my driveway. She needs some TLC as far as tune up and stuff, but pretty much made the 35 mile drive home on the Interstate just fine. Interior is missing all the Plow controls, but everything else is pretty much still intact, including the factory stereo. Someone got screw happy with mounting aftermarket trinkets on the dash areas so there are a few small holes in some of the dash area's. Front bumper is shot, they welded the brush guard directly to the bumper instead of making up some usable mounts to the frame.
Tail gate is gone. Got to get another one of them for sure. Rear bumper was a step bumper. Came with it and is in the bed, but its got a HD custom built one on it now that I may add a little more too and just leave on her cause its a much more usable workhorse bumper than the original.
Seat needs recovered. Glove box vinyl is cracking. Windshield has started to get white around the edges, but since AL has no inspections going at this time, that wont be a problem.

All this being said, this truck basically has little to no RUST areas!!!! She is sweet. I think personally this baby will be my pride and joy even above my 99 Quad Cab 4x4 Dodge 1500.

Got very excited when I got there to pick her up and noticed that the front fender badges said 300.. ???

Title shows its a W200 truck though, so not sure why its got 300 badges on it unless someone replaced them with the wrong ones?

Vin. shows this truck GVWR at 6001 to 10000.
