Simple. Go to an autowrecker and get one for a 93 Dodge truck.
Just tell them that you put Hedders on and need the newer smaller starter to clear.
Easy fix and a better starter. Bolt right in.

I'm pretty sure the heat shield on my starter is pressed against my hooker header, when the starter dies I'll get one of the smaller high torque ones. Why don't you want one of those?

Side note Brutus's 73 w100 has one of the small ones, apparently the parts store guy said that's the one spec'd for his truck. Whatever, it clears the header easily, and you can actually replace it without having to remove the header first.

I believe the starters for late 80's-90's dakotas and ram's will work, and be smaller

If you go to a JY and get the Denso starter from 93 or newer Dodge truck, (Ram, Dakota, Durango) V6 or V8 you will be gettng a high torque starter.  According to my local automotive rebuild shop, all Denso starters for Dodge trucks are high torque.  Last time I replaced header, I bought one at JY for $20 and had it rebuilt immediately for another $35.  Working great on my CC with a 360 engine.  Plenty of clearance around Hedman headers.

I too had some tight clearance issues, went and put a 91 RC starter on, works like a champ easy to do.  My 2 cents

i dont believe hedman ever botherd ta put the damn things on an a workin motor,,, my 383 in my 85 shortbox , burns wires on the center location pistons ... ill be lookin fer a set of 400 4x truck aplicatoin manifolds next .... dont seem ta matter what i do ta shield the wire and boot it burns ... my 383 is puttin out 422 ponys (acoardin ta bench top dino) and im not sure the headers are contributing to that very much.. seins how after 60 hrs of run time its down to 7 cans hittin with spark .... my 2 cents ... wont spend them on hedman again ... oh . my factory starter fitt fine ... i dunno .

I had to beat the $hit out of my tubes to clear my starter.  Will a 93 or newer starter work on a 75 PW w/ a 360???

yes it will. you might need to slot the hole on top of the starter

My Heddman Hedders work and fit great. No problems ever.
Get the metal collector gaskets (thier reusable) and never worry about blowing them out.

i bought those $79.99 headers for my satellite out of summit. the started doesnt last very long, and you have to remove the header to change the starter. i shoulda left it stock.
My 1991 Grand Wagoneer has a TF727, does that make it a Mopar? lol

For my Ramcharger ive not had to worry about the starter and dont have to remove the hedders to swap if i did.

one little differance here i have a big block you have a small block.  one thing i have noticed is theres not much room in between my frame rails anymore and i had to jack my engine up about 3 inchs just to get those damn headers in place talk about alot of work just for headers but 40hours of port and polish would be no good with stock manifolds.
is there a differance in big block headers like will 440 headers fit a 383

i think 400, 383, 440 & 413 have the same exast ports ... could be mistakin... im a hell of a nail bender,, not much much of a wrench,,
