No place to buy new. You'll have to get them from a junk yard or a member here who will part with some.

I may be mistaken, but I think the headlight doors and aluminum surround on an '82 were very similar to those on '86-'89.  It was the center grille that was the main difference.  Perhaps one of the members that has done a grille swap can help clarify that.  If it would work, the headlight doors for '86 to '89 are still available @ rockauto.com.

As far as I know, 81-90 headlight doors will bolt right up.  The differences lie in the color/painting.  Some years had the plastic immediately around the headlight painted black, others were 'argent' or silver.  As long as you replace them in pairs, shouldn't be a problem.  I think the 81-85 were the black ones.  I had to swap both of them on my 82 as the ones I found in the junkyard were the silver ones and the ones on my 82 were black.

The rock auto ones have the option of black w/ silver (argent) or black & bright (chrome).  As long as they match the color scheme of the '82 grille (silver or bright) and are replaced in pairs, it should work.

I was able to buy new ones for my 85. I got them for 15.95 plus shipping, from Partsgeek.com. It only took 3 days from time of order to the package at my door. Their part# is CH2513122. Hope that helps.

boy everybody looks everywere but right here on RCC / link to NEW ones on here

head light buckets
I'd definitely go OEM (new or used) instead of aftermarket on these when possible. The finish on OEM parts will last a lot longer.

81-85 are different than 86-90. Both have chrome or argent options
First is 86-90. They tie into the grill and the second is 81-85 and is seperated by the grill shell

Hmm, don't seem to remember that issue swapping between my 87 and 83. But, I don't have either of those anymore so I can't confirm.
