Gas Tank sending unit - ohms info

Due to multiple faiolures with original instruments, I am planning on doing a cutom cluster for my RC. I already have Autometer gauges for what I need - oil pressure, wáter temp, voltmeter and tach (no need for speedo), but I do not know which fuel level gauge to buy because I do not know how many ohms my sending unit has.. There are gauges from 8 ohms up to 280 ohms.. Do you guys know which one I should buy?

Thanks a lot.

I think the 4315 is the one you want:

Air-Core meter movement.
For most Fords before 1989 (except 1987 & later Mustang) & most Chryslers. Designed for use with Original Equipment non-linear fuel sensors. Click HERE for details.
Instrument features brushed aluminum dial in silver finish with matching silver anodized bezel.

That's a great looking cluster! Are you selling it? Or just showing how it must be done?

He is showing you what is possible.

There are many different ways to set it up and it is all personally preference.

Here is mine:

Oh, ok...

Yours looks awesome... I can see you have more gauges than the usual setup (oil, gas, water, volt, tach, speedo).. What other gauges do you have in yours?...

Here's what I did for my demon, and I was thinking doing something similar, but don't know if 6 gauges will do it, or if I need some other stuff to pay attention to on the RamCharger

If the price is right anything is for sale...
The thing is I could make an offer, but I guess I will be paying twice the price just for shipping.. I am quite far from where you are (see my location)...

Thanks anyways!!

You can install whatever gauges you want or need (or will fit)

In mine I installed:
Speedometer, Tach, Fuel Level, Voltage, Vacuum, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp, and Trans Temp

I wanted to keep the stock AC\Heater controls plus I installed the Dual Battery switch panel and might even install the Air Pressure gauge and switch for the on-board air.

The sky is the limit all it takes is imagination (cash and time :) )

I removed the A/C in mine, so I will use that space to fit my CB radio as well as a VHF unit.... I am running with an NP435 so no need for tranny temp gauge... I was thinking about the diff temp gauges, but I guess I don't have a need for those (no rock crawling neither heavy towing here)... Same goes with the T-case temp gauge... Now, What do you use that Vacuum gauge for? I mean, I haven't ever used one like that one and I don't know what it is for.... What else do you think I must keep an eye to?

I will place some toggle switches on the dash: fuel pump, fan, fog lights, top light bar, and (maybe) lights... Any idea on what else I could use those switches with?

Thanks a lot!!

In an effort to get the best fuel mileage I can get I use the vacuum gauge to monitor my driving habits.

You can have switches for everything\anything really.  I have switches for the following:
Rock lights
1 for each set of driving lights (2 sets)
1 for the cargo light in the bed of the truck
1 for the LED back-up lights
I am going to add:
1 for the Air compressor
1 for each locker
1 for the electric fan over-ride switch

Great! Thanks for the info... I guess I will use a setup like yours in regards to the driving lights... though in the pics you posted I cannot see where you have the switches...

And still don't get the vacuum thing... how does it work?

I have the other switch on the other side of the steering column right now and will add the remainder to the console when I'm done.

In a nutshell, try and drive while keeping as much vacuum as you can

You can also use vacuum gauges for simple engine diagnostics and setting the timing (dash mounted that would be tough though...)
