tips for what. removing the plastic lock ring can be a royal pain. new sending units are almost impossible to find and expensive to fix or replace so pray that yours is still good. if lines leaving the sending unit are rusty and you can get the sending unit out, you can cut the steel lines inside the sending unit and slide 3/8" line over the 5/16" line.
you could buy an aftermarket "mopar" spec (73-10ohm) sending unit but then your gauge will be off because it operates on lower voltage (5?) so you'll need an aftermarket fuel level gauge too. might as well buy GM spec aftermarket sender and gauge, plenty of cells come with a GM spec sender.

Well I was kinda wondering what's needed to make it all work.
I've found plenty of 20 gal. tanks but I'm not sure what I'll need to run one.
Some say things like a 90ohm sender, witch I'm not sure about.
The gas tank I have on the truck is just old, banged up and in a bad spot. Plus the straps are all rusted out.
So I'd like to just get a nice, new cell to go in the back where the spare tire would go.
I'm not going to do the job myself, but need to know what to buy for my mechanic to install.
All I know is I want a 20 gal. after that I'm lost. I saw them install a fuel cell with filter and new lines on Powerblock and it looked really clean.
So are you saying my fuel pump would work if I can get it out? This will fit in a fuel cell?
If it's not working OK, or just rusted, what would you suggest I buy?
And do you know where I can get a fuel filter to go with this setup?
Sorry if this is common knowledge, I've never worked with this before.
Thanks
your fuel pump should be bolted to the engine block so you should not have to worry about it. fuel filter is also by the fuel pump. if your old sending unit works and you are able to get it out of the tank you could modify it to work with a fuel cell.
