I just changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor on my 1985 ramcharger. I think the firing order I got from my chiltons manual maybe incorrect. The motor is a 318 and it wont start now. If any one has any sudgestions they would be greatly appreciated or if you can post the firing order that would be even better.
Remove the distributor cap and turn the engine over until cylinder #1 is at TDC. The timing mark on the balancer will be lined up with the zero on the timing cover. If the distributor rotor is pointing toward the firewall, that is TDC on the #1 cylinder's exhaust stroke, so just keep turning the engine until you come around to zero again. Your rotor should be pointing to or just past the #1 cylinder's tower. Move your #1 plug wire to this tower and follow the rest with 18436572. Also, most caps have the #1 cylinder marked. Of course, you could jack around with the distributor and distributor drive shaft to put your #1 almost anywhere, but why?
I got it to start last night it wasn't the firing order it was a lose wire on the drivers side of the firewall in the engine compartment. It's funny always a 50 cent peice that gets you.
