Yeah, it's called the 518 transmission.  Internally the same as the 727 with the added overdrive.  That's the best way since you retain oem parts and stuff bolts right up to it.  There's also the Gear Vendors overdrive unit, but I know little about that.

Yeah, they're on the early 90's trucks.  They look like a longer 727, but I am a manual-tranny guy so for more info I'll leave it to the other members to answer.

look for a 1988 to 1993 full-size truck with the OD button in the dash or a 1988 to 1996 Dakota V8 with the OD button on the dash

NOTE / you hafta know the difference between a 904 - 500 and a 727 - 518 to find the right tranny

Yes both drive shafts, since you are moving the transfer case back. Relocation of the crossmember, also keep in mind this 727 to 518 only works "easily" if you are using a small block. There are no big block 518's. There are a few ways to make them fit, but it is expensive, and requires time and fabrication.

my truck is a 360 from an old n.h. school bus so there shouldnt be any problem there. cool sounds like i better start finding one for a winter rebuild.
thank you
be careful rebuilding the overdrive in one - the internals are the same as a 727 but the OD unit has a gnarly spring under a lot of pressure. they make a couple of spring compressors (one uses a press, one bolts to the housing) to handle the job of reinstalling it.
