turbine wheels
« on: June 24, 2009, 02:41:24 PM »
What would the carrying capacity be for the stock 15'' turbine wheels that dodge supplied for years on the ramchargers and pickups?  I'm planning on building a car hauler trailer sometime soon and wanted to use a set of these wheels because they would match the turbine wheels on my crewcab.  The projected weight for the trailer is about 3000 pounds with about a 7000 pound truck on it.  That would put the total weight to about 10000 pounds.  If they won't hold up it's not big deal.

Thats a good question... I have had these rims on this trailer bout a year & have pulled the crew about three times.. So far I haven't had any problems but then again the trailer is pretty lightweight...

I've hauled plenty of heavy loads with aluminum wheels before.  Does anybody have a wheel they can look at and see if the weight rating is on the back side?

That trailer scares me! {cool}

I have a couple sitting on the trailer (not mounted just sitting on it)...I will check tomorow as I am in the undies already and don't wanna scare the neighbors.

LOL   just the other day I hauled 6 rolls of 4x5 round bales or hay.... Guessing about 800 lbs each  x 6 rolls = 4800 plus trailer weight... about the same as pullin the crew...

I know they look scary.. but once set in place, they never moved...

This is what is stamped or cast into the back of my '87 turbine rims.  Reading from left to right with the MOPAR Pentastar at the bottom.

Double ** means a break in the numbers etc

DOT T ** 15 x 7 **  S.2. ** 1021862 ** G001 ** The Pentastar logo then 4116237

Very faintly and I am not ever sure if this right but the following was stamped into the rim

Xa2 H8

I have no idea what any of that means except for DOT and 15x 7!

Cheers
