New Jeep rims on an Old Ramcharger?
« on: May 18, 2017, 11:29:55 PM »
I'm lifting my 2 wd 78 RC 5" and adding new rims and tires.
Mostly a highway joy riding truck to and from work a day or two per week and getting groceries on the weekend

I'm seeing tons of good deals on Jeep take offs and most of them come with the 5th wheel

Will they fit? (With a set of 5 on 4.5 to 5 on 5 adapters)

Will they fill the fender gap with a 2" suspension and 3" body lift? The ones I'm looking at are 265/65/18

Would it look good or stupid?

    Wrong backspacing
1978 Ramcharger 440/727 with NP 203/205 doubler w/twinstick, Dana 60F and Dana 70 rear w/3.54:1 gears and an 8" lift. Puttin' out 450 HP at the crank, a little to mild. Now with Hydro Boost brakes.

Do you know what backspacing I need or explain what I'm looking for and if this could be compensated for with spacers?
Sorry for all the questions I'm obviously new..
I know what backspacing is just not what I need.

It seems plausible. I had the old Dodge wheels on the gf's Jeep Liberty for winter use, both being 5x4.5" pattern. Now I've got late-model wrangler wheels (steel) adapted on there.

The thickness of the adapter negates some/all of the odd backspacing. For example, 5.5" backspace Jeep wheel with a 1.5" adapter yields 4" effective backspacing.

Were you able to fit the jeep wheels on your Charger BlakeAll78RC?
