I have a 89 ramcharger with a 360 fi motor. I have put 12 inches of lift on it with a set of 40x17x15 ground hawgs and some 4.56 gears with lockers. It makes decent power and pulls decent with the tires in the mud. My question is I would like to get some more power out of the motor but really want to keep the fi on the 360. I would like to go bigger on the cam and bump up the compression some and maybe a little head work. If I do this what needs to be done to the cpu and fi to keep it on the motor? Thanks alot guys for any replys.

The TBI is very limited to power increases. You would be better off swapping in an entire Magnum (93+) engine with the computer and harnesses.

the best and simplest way to get more torque is to build a stroker - up the 360 to a 408. Don't change anything else and you'll have an instant 'mini' big block. You don't need fancy heads or anything else - even keep the stock manifolds. Eagle has the complete stroker kits - good stuff. http://www.campbellenterprises.com/eagle-specialty-products/eagle-stroker-kits/mopar-340-360-magnum-stroker-kit.htm- Sam

Keep in mind that the stock TBI might not agree with the stroker option so you may be forced to go with some form of aftermarket fuel injection.

4.88 gears? Comp cams has cams designed for the TBI. For the heads you could mill them a bit for compression and mild porting. Much more then that would be a waste since the TBI limits you. Also a decent exhaust would help alot.

I put headers, true duals and an edelbrock intake on mine and it made a huge difference, probably 25 hp increase. I had to weld in an 02 sensor bung on the headers, and make a tbi adapter to fit the intake. I installed an electric fan that probably freed up a couple ponies but wasnt noticable. I also bumped up the timing as much as possible without pinging. All this definately woke this motor up but you could still do a little more. I also thought of mildly porting or smoothing the throttle body, adding a throttle body spacer, milling the heads for an increase in compression with a good valve job, cleaning up the ports, gasket matching the head and intake, and making a cold air intake. Each of these things may only add a couple of horses but put them together and maybe 10-20 more and i dont think the computer would mind. Then add a cam from comp cams, made for tbi motors, all this on a fresh rebuild, bored .030 over using synthetic oil and premium fuel and this would be a very strong motor, in theory. That is what i plan on doing so ill let you know how it works. It wont be any time soon though, lol.
