Jeep 4.0 mated to TF727
« on: January 31, 2008, 09:21:38 PM »
I am starting to think about making some changes in my 2 off road vehicles, maybe some consolidation.  Does anyone know if the TF727 from the 86 Dodge RC would mate up to a Jeep 4.0?
1986 Dodge Ramcharger, 4" BDS lift, D60's f&r, custom built bumpers and rocker rails, 38.5" TSL's, Beadlocks, full hydraulic steering, tube doors, Warn 9500 with in cab controls, hard top chopped, full roll cage, 22 gallon fuel cell, bed shortened 10 inches

Advance Adapters?

Possibly. I started looking at this for my moms mail jeep. She retired so I dropped it.

My 360 is not fuel injected, the 4.0 is. This is for off-road use and I have fallen in love with the fuel injection.

just use a tf727 from any of the 8 zillion jeep grand waggoneers from 1980-1992 or full size cherokee 1980-1983 or j10/j20 pickup 1980-1987.360 and 258 and 4.0 all have same bolt pattern and your transfer case will bolt up on the back end.you have to drill a hole in the bellhousing to mount the crank sensor or use a kit that moves it to the front of the engine.buy an advance adapter catalog,it will show you about the crank sensor or im sure somebody on the net has pictures

what about injecting your 360?
Avoid replacing any part that you have not proven to be faulty through extensive testing.

360/TF727/NP208  I really don't want to mess with the expense and headache associated with trying to convert my pig to fuel injection.
