FI RC style gas tank for pick up?
« on: March 21, 2006, 02:31:11 PM »
thinking about using an RC style tank on my pickup and wondered what years if any to look for for a fuel injected engine? What mods need to be done to fit one in a truck frame?
can an external fuel pump be used with a non FI tank setup?
suggestions please..

An RC tank will go roughly where your spare tire does on your pick-up.  I'm sure it could be made to work.

i used to have one mounted where my spare tire sat and grafted another filler door into the bed side (if you look at the inside of the bed, you'll notice the bulge in the side panel for the rear filler neck since they used the same panel from the 70's when they had the dual tank option.  i had to fab up some brackets to attach the RC tank straps to, wasn't a big deal.  since then i've got with one of the rectangular fuel tanks off a medium duty international dump truck, welded mounting tabs on it and bolted it inside my bed so i could get rid of the underbed tank for clearance/safety issues.  Karl
