Well here is my 1984 Dodge Ramcharger with the Prospector Package. It's from Kingman, AZ. I've had it for 2 years, and alot of work still to bedone on it.
This when I brought it home, a rust free oldie is worth more then any of the other fixes.

Summer of 06'

I think a shock mount when through the cargo area. So fixed it, then welded it and bondo went on over it.

Most Recent:

The engine is .060 over, edelbrock intake, roller tip rockers, mild came, elite series valve covers/air cleaner, hemi orange 360 haha, new radiator, water pump, fan clutch, repainted fan shroud and engine compartment.

Thanks for looking and more to come,
Gavin

That truck is in great shape, and with no rust!  Thats hard to find around here, my RC is a prime example of the northern rust belt  Tongue.  It looks like youve done alot to keep it in great shape, keep it origional as possible, I think they look better and keep their value better.  I also like what youve done under the hood, it looks like you take good care of her.  Is that a 318 or a 360?

It's a 360, BUT a 79'. I bought purely for the body shape. Come to find out the :

wiring is shot
it needed new weather stripping
and ALOT of TLC after we started taking it apart
the rear hatch support was broken out of the fiberglass(easy fix)

I am not lifting it, or anything like that. I want mud terrian 31" tires and some nicer rims. It will be the factory for the most part except all new wiring, cd player, speakers, engine. I am painting the colors it is painted now.

Nice RC I wish mine was rust free it came from MI. Royal Oaks to be exact. But it is not that bad maybe it will get some cosmetics this summer. Your360 looks good in those colors as well.

Whats the bad part is, the prior owner-not the guy who drove it back(he just flipped it when he got back) lived in BFE in AZ. Well they used it from my understanding (him and mom) to charge batteries for the solar panels. When the guy ended up blowing the battery up and it ate of the wiring. I found alot of 45 acp shells, a little girls necklace in(creeped me out).Have you seen Plymouth rock's RC? Thats the idea I am going with, he just did it first. I want some TSL's, SSR'S, Baja Claws, Ground Hawgs, or Micky MTZ's for tires. Same rims.

There is a massive dent were it looked it was rock crawled, it was abused for the last part of its life, but it has a garage that it knows it pushed out the last vehicle. Mom didn't want it sitting in the yard, so she put her corvette in storage and I move my RC in. Crazy.....huh lol

Thanks, I had to re-paint the former owner let a battery explode under the hood lol. It's slowly coming along. It's a good truck to just cruise in. Take to shows and use when I need a 2nd vehicle or something. You have a thread for yours?

Back In Black

« Reply #14 on: March 4, 2008, 11:09:44 PM »

Looking good... I love the blue. I was flipping through the before pics of the interior and my wife said, "hey, is that your truck?"

We are at the "What should we do with the inside part of our truck" part of our little project right now. We want the back to be dog-friendly, so regular paint would be a waste. I think we'll go with black...

Do you have any details on product/number of coats/prep and such?

I can if you give me some time. Like this weekend? I acutally cut a hole in the hatch on the inside close to where the mount broke and I kinda of forget now. It's going to be covered up anyways so I was too concerned on it doing that, BUT it was really really simple. I put some bondo after it was secured and sanded it flush. I know the bolt was bonded in, but it turns out of it as planned. I know I can get a picture of the hole I cut, but not the mount until like spring time. All the pool shit is behind it and I can't open the hatch lol.

Thanks for the commenting.

Well here's a little update if any cares or likes to follow:

I removed the air conditoning unit it never worked when I bought and would of needed to charged, searched high and low for new bracketry. I installed the altenrator AGAIN with the w/o AC bracketry. I couldn't find the right bracket for power steering so Dad and I made one. We started installing the new wiring harness, seperated the wiring and mounted the fuse box.

Rammingrob hears the door repair too.

Here is the newly acquired junk HARNESSES. Those should be up for sale shortly...lol or my scrap metal pile.

That's coming along nicely.  It you weren't planning on it, I'd add rubber stripping on the old bulkhead seams so you don't chafe and ruin your wires.

Here's the left side on the truck, minus the gasket..I need to get oil filter wrench for the right. Its going to be a tight fit down there:

I definately need the mini-starter. As you can see the space is very cramped.

I don't it would. The old starter is like 20# the mini is like 9#. I dry fit the starter in between the header and oil pan with the headers loose-no gaskets. No problems. I do have the heddmans and we probally do have the same pair. I bought it the starter off of ebay from a starter shop in TN. It was actually suggested on here from some very knowledgable members. They have a couple of them. I haven't tried it with the battery so keep that in mind. Here's the link mine was was 68.XX + 12 for shipping and thats a flat rate.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D370061658100%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=370061658100

Search their store and get the same one I did.

Not in the near future, the stock one is in great shape still. Just to fire/run the engine and wire it all up is the high priority goal right now.

Hows your coming....?

i dont see what C.R. pistons were used. otherwise looks to be a solid build. i think id want a lil more cam solely for sound fx since this is a cruiser but the one you have is already installed and will work just fine.
