;D the orange 79 just got all patched up with all aftermarket metal. im in Michigan. that happens here.  put on a 4in lift that i cried for two days while doing. had to torch everything off due to rust. threw on a 4 barrel intake on the 360 yes cried a little more. sent it to the chebby guys house for a gear box and getting it started again. hope it will come home running good. sad it is getting sold to pay last years taxes...   :'(     first pic is before lift.

the two tone 77 is a customers truck. nice ride when we started rust above wheel wells. front fenders had rust in lip area. further we got in to it more rust. quoted price around 3k labor and his chemical choice was extra. ppg clear is pricey .  was on the show truck track now we stepped it down to daily driver. still have all the patching to do. over a thousand dollars later to lmc truck we will have parts Monday.  free shipping over a k.  anybody installed there front fenders . how they fit ?

Never used the LMC fenders but have used aftermarket which i'm going to assume were stamped at the same place. Terrible. Would hunt for used if i did it again.

enugh about non rc's  i have one other project not pictured. and will post tomorrow maybe someone has seen it on the old school sand race hill climb venue.  a 1979 ram charger named rambunctious....  maybe someone knows some history on it.

pickemups are ok don't have to be an r/c . Mostly the pre 94 styles .. What are you using for the blasting ? dry or wet "dustless " people ?

i am running a large dry blast using silica fine sand. a hundred pound unit with a diesel compressor. never run out of air. i have checked in to the dustless blasting units i am almost ready to buy one. great for outside sheet metal just got to keep it out of the insides of the vehicle. there will always be a need for dry blasting.  dustless is 8500 for a unit that runs for about 30 min. great for small rust spots in the middle of the panel. i am pretty picky and strip a lot of panels to find surface rust from scratches chips in middle of a panel. no real way to remove it all without this machine. without warping.      my blaster cleans it up pretty good. then u have swiss cheese to repair

patch time didn't get much time on it today had a Honda to bump. welded up the molding holes on one side. put some inner structure back in to stiffen up. patched inner wheel well but did not weld in want to fit the outside patch first. will be here Monday. played that game trying to get ahead before.  :-[   words of wisdom on patches cut it bigger than u think it will last longer in strong metal.   many times seen metal rust out right next to the patch. because it was weak when they put in patch.

yeah used a rotory screw with black beauty on the dumps . had to have a fellow feeding the hopper , lol not for sheet metal . had a V4 devillibis that ran a blaster ok . I'm curious how that "dustless" deal would work because if its wet , its causing rust , a fella in town has one , says 800 to do a short box and cab ( dodge paint flaking )  last one I did with sandpaper , I found out it's harder to do than it was 35 years ago for some reason....
mig sure beats trying to get all the flux outta yer brass  ;)

there is a chemical u add to the water that prevents flash rust for a short time i think 72 hours. crushed glass is used as media. great for doing outside panels you can eliminate all little surface rust too. the catch is doing inside structure where sand gets trapped.  as u know with the 150 psi diesel or your screw compressor you can blow the dickins out of the inside to eliminate it. but wet ?   it took a good time to sand strip with 80 grit doors and quarter. where the dustless would of only took a half hour to a hour. my shop labor rate is 40 a hour.  cost them $50 an hour to load the machine. 800 is a lot to shell out. ill stick to stripping myself.  just did my road runner conv the other day. yes another project.      12 bags of sand  5 hours at the beach and your done. ;D  engine compartment door jams floors inside trunk and tail panel.   ;)

OK . Rambunctious ....   last project for now. it is a 79  this is a sitter because i want to put in a good running motor.   so it is not a slug. hope someone knows a little about her. i bought it about 3 years ago haven't touched it besides repainting some suspension parts lime green.    no motor  was told it had a really built 340 in it. hill climbed in ohio. michigan .  full msd and chatter box halon system for fire control looks like someone pulled engine and trans and put it in storage. I bought it off a kid, he got from a boss that owned a warehouse where it sat. craigslist baby.     we usto go to silver lake in mi. long time ago. that's where it will get a trial run if ever done. these are the only pic i could find for now. last one is its resting place in the wife's horse barn. nice barn find in 20 years  . someone on the list has the name rambunctious for there profile name?       long lost owner?
