Thanks! A local collision shop is doing all of the cosmetic and mechanical work. The car will be a nice driver but with upgrades; poly-urethane suspension pieces, frame connectors, ss lines, new wiring harnesses, etc.

I'm trying to do things once, but as right as the budget allows Roll Eyes

Gonna be nice. What color you gonna shoot it? What interior etc.? Details man details.

Makes me miss my '70. Mine was a California built 340/4spd car, T-6 dark tan, black top, black butt stripe, black int., rallyes, rallye hood. Built in Sept. of '69. The matching # 340 was ventilated by the previous owner, so I dropped a mild 383 in it. Got a job in a body shop so I could learn body work/paint, spent 3 mos on the repaint, even polished the scratches out of the tailite lenses etc. Beautiful car  Cry.

Ran up on a herd of black cows one night, got it turned sideways, hit a cow square in the ass. It mashed the hell out of the left quarter.  Had to jack the fender out so it would clear the tire.  Was so disgusted I swapped it for a rusted out GMC. The guy drove the Challenger a few days and center punched a post and tore the front end up. He eventually had it fixed, dropped a 440 in it then sold it.

Gonna be nice. What color you gonna shoot it? What interior etc.? Details man details.

According to the fender tag, it'll go back to Plum Crazy, black/white cloth and vinyl seatcovers, black vinyl top, white R/T side stripes, dual chrome mirrors, 440-4bbl, A36 axle package, ps, pdb, no ac, Rallye gauges.

The am radio, original seats, and cardboard headliner pieces were already mia when i bought the car out of Madison Heights, Michigan in 1994. It had actually been picked up by the Royal Oak Police Department as an abandoned vehicle in 1993; the fellow who won the car in a police auction later that year is who i purchased it from. It had been in the Detroit area since new.

It'll get a new set of 15" chrome magnum 500 wheels and at least initially a set of repro Goodyear Polyglas tires; a Sony FXCD 500 am/fm/cd/cassette head unit and Infinity Kappa 6x9 speakers for the interior sounds. Not too wild but adequate.

Nice ride man I can't wait to see the finished pics.........  Agree

I missed out on a 70 TA Challenger 15 years ago for $500. Ex wife said no or I'm leaving.  Roll Eyes
If I'd a known she was already dropping her pants for someone else I would have bought it.

A guy down the street was storing a plain Jane 70 318 AT on the floor for a kid that was in the Army in Iraq. I told the guy to offer the kid $500 when he got back. The car disapered one day I asked the neighbor and he said the kid was going to fix it. I asked again for the kids # a moth later and the neighbor said he started working on it found out how much work it was and hauled it off the the crusher!  Shocked  Rant Rant Rant Rant Rant

Found another 70 plain Jane 318 AT on the floor Challenger rotting away in a body shop driveway 4 months ago. The owner of the shop owns the car he said it's worth more in parts than whole and doesn't know if he wants to sell it whole......  Angry  Rant Rant Rant Rant Rant

I'm going back in a few months to ask again though.....  Yes

I want one bad I have a 440/727 for one, I just can't seem to catch a break.......  No clue

The trim-out in PPG plum crazy has begun on those areas and parts which will receive single stage rather than two stage bc/cc. There are flaws to be sure as this Challenger will be driven - alot - but seeing the first fresh paint on the old gal since January 1970 is just too cool  Smiley

Even though the original battery tray was painted, there were enough pits and corroded areas that i decided to purchase a new AMD piece. Once prepped, it too will be purple.

One of the 15x7 Chrome Magnum wheels from Specialty Wheels. I was able to pick up a set of 4 wheels, 4 center caps with attaching hardware, and 20 lug nuts for $790 at the 2007 Mopar Nationals

I like the 70-71 front ends and tail lights.

BUT I have wanted a Challenger for so long that any would do at this point. I know where there is a 72 R/T (I think, it's in the trees) sitting rotting near my Dad's deer camp. Now if only I had cash to go wave at it.  Undecided

FYI R/Ts were only '70 and '71.
That Plum Crazy is the color ours was before the primer. We've got a '71 R/T thats been in my wife's family since 1974  Grin Hoping to get it roadworthy again this year.

We cruised around in high school, way back when, in a Banana Yellow (darker than factory Lemon Twist) 440 727 R/T SE. That was a great car!
