What does it all mean?
« on: March 30, 2009, 03:57:25 PM »
Made a "parts run" up to my cousin's JY over the weekend.  He said business has gone nuts in the last few weeks...everybody is fixing up what they have and trying to avoid the dealerships for repairs.  I noticed more activity up at Kristian's yard the last couple weeks as well, more older vehicles (5-10 years old) in the parking lots at the store, and less strange looks when I run around in my "older but fixed up" vehicles.

When I was talking with my Dad about it, he said that it seems to be the new trend with everybody trying to save a $$$...I just laughed and said "Hell, the crew at RCC has been doing that for years!  Guess we're not as crazy as everyone thought!"  ;D

Does this mean we're "trend-setters"?  ;)

No we are self sufficant.

What is that? Some kind of disinfectant? ;D

Yes we are self "sufficant".  That is the appeal of this site to me anyway. I know that 24/7/365 that I can search this site for the answer to an issue. No BS (well at least not too much) and I know that I am not getting my eyes screwed out by going to a dealer for "help".

RCC rocks.

Why buy stuff from an auto parts store when you can you can have the fun of hand picking your own bits? I love going through junk yards! :D

Helps the environment by saving things from turning to rust, or being crushed, shipped, melted, shipped again to a factory, made into a paper thin fender then shipped yet again. Sure, new cars make less tailpipe emissions, but many people don't think of how polluting the manufacturing is.

Yup, saving old Mopar and other cool vehicles is much more satisfying than car payments if you ask me.  8)

We're trend setters until the economy upswings and everyone goes back to their old ways...then we'll start getting dirty looks again...

I still get dirty looks even from RCC guys and other old truck guys.  ::)

Avoid replacing any part that you have not proven to be faulty through extensive testing.
