I want to add an older one, if I may:

02/08/07   Werner, Raymond M.   Private      21yrs  Boise, Idaho

Ray and I went to highschool together, were in the Choir together, and were on the track team together. He was a great friend, lost to an enemy IED. I know he died proud to be representing his country, and my prayers are still with his wife Lacey and his family. Working in a Senator's office this last summer, I was fortunate enough to be the intern that received the  US Flag that had been sent for Ray's mother, and rather than mailing it like others, I delivered it personally. It was just a reminder of all the things this thread stands for.

this always tears me apart and i'm doing my d@mndest to get the homefront ducks-in-a-row so i can reenlist.

a co-worker and i went to the funeral of a fallen sailor Petty Officer Roddy.  He was EOD in the US Navy and was killed when a bomb exploded.  that wacko church threatened to protest at his funeral and the Patriot Riders and the local VFW and Amer. Legion along with many of us patriotic civillians showed up in force to make sure that his family only saw US flags lining the road to the church for miles in every direction.  when taps was played on the trumpet and the 21 gun salute was fired, everyone was shedding tears.  thousands of battle-tough vets from vietnam through the present couldn't hold a dry eye when one of our own was laid to rest.

every military death that i hear of absolutely rips a chunk right out of my heart but please keep posting them.  these are heros that deserve our recogniton.  regardless of what you think about the current wars/politics/foreign policy - these folks have given their very life in defense of our freedoms and deserve far more than we can ever do to honor them.

I served in Viet Nam from 7/20/69-11/5/70.......with the 101ST Airborne Div. L CO. 75TH Rangers, we lost too many over there and it is quite difficult to hear about what's happening now, but never the less I'm with you all, always!!!

BeachBum, can you give me a link to where you are getting these casualty lists and let me know if it shows where these service members are from?

Reason I ask is, I think I may know one of the ones you recently listed:

PO 2nd Class Tyler Trahan. It is just enough of a different name that there can't be to many of them in the US I wouldn't think. If it is the right person, I worked with his sister in law.

Any assistance you can give would be appreciated. Thank you for keeping this thread alive. Karma to you

as a soldier i know what its like to be deployed and not be able to talk to those back home. and yes it sucks. i wish the best for your friend as well as every other soldier. but remember this to keep your moral and hopes up, statistics say its safer to be deployed to iraq then to live in most major cities in our country, i have high hopes of all my friends making it home alive based upon this statistic

I just now found this thread.  Awesome idea to whoever started it.

I know what its like losing family and freinds overseas.  I served in 5 combat operations in Iraq as an infantry machinegunner and during one of those we lost 31 of our guys. Yes, It sucks that there are so many young lives being lost everyday, but someone has to fight for our country and the fighting is not going to stop anytime soon as it has been going on for thousands of years.

Thanks again to all my fellow vets and those who support us.

this always tears me apart and i'm doing my d@mndest to get the homefront ducks-in-a-row so i can reenlist.

a co-worker and i went to the funeral of a fallen sailor Petty Officer Roddy.

-t

Very well said -t, very well said!!
Our Veterans (past & present) are not honored enough!!
