I found this truck that had been in the same place since 1996 and shows only 86k KM, Mex d150 means 6cil 1/2 ton while d250 means 8cil 1/2 ton so this is a slant6 manual trans another difference from US trucks is the CLARK T-190 4spd manual and ofcourse Dana44 rear end.
The original plan was just to get it into driving conditions but then we found a piece of one rod in the bed and looking a little closer a BIG hole in the block so we just need to find another slant right ? well the charger has a 318 in good condition and we where going to ditch it in favor of a bigblock anyway so v8 swap it is ,next thing was to find bellhousing , clutch , flywheel and motor mounts and i found them so just need to get them on the truck.
Will post pictures as soon as I can ,just realized I don't have them on this PC.
Change of plans the dodge its getting a 360.Just bought the clutch and flywheel (from a 360) from the junkyard ,clutch has 3/4 of life, waiting for the bellhousing and the swap will begin
Another interesting thing about your truck is the mirrors -- our '88 to '93 trucks use the same base but they are more wide then they are tall, yours seem to be just the opposite. It seems like they did lots of Mexico-specific differences.
My '93 is the first 360 I've owned and it has a bit more grunt than my previous 318s!
After 2 days of struggling to get the slant out we ( my brother and I ) noticed that some bellhousing bolts where still in the thing is that they lost the head so we didn't noticed until we tried to stick a screwdriver to clean the hole and it didn't went in...
First night we cutted chopped and removed hoses , cables and bolts and it came up looking like this:
we also removed the hood and the radiator to make things easier.
The bellhousing that turned out to be useless for the truck because its for mechanical linkage and the truck has an hidraulic clutch so things don't match.
well when the bolt thing was figured ( the next afternoon ) out turned out to be easier to remove the slant with the bellhousing attached by just removing the 4 bolts that keep the bellhousing on the trans. so now where is the slant ?
And here the "new" engine , its dirty but its fresh just needs a cleanup and new valvecover gaskets to keep it clean.Plus it already has an edelbrock intake , 120amp alternator and a magnum dry coil.
Still have to fix the brakes , find the bellhousing for the right price or swap an OD auto since it was in the long therm plans anyway , lower the rear, install the summit street&strip ignition box and maybe Ill get some headers for $30 that I found in a junkyard
It's oficial the truck is getting a 727 should arrive this week.I wanted a 518 but got this one for cheap and thats what Im looking for
