woot page 3, im catching up to ya mad max lol Me too, both . I firmly believe my fun with Lego's as a kid directly affected my transition to fabricator. Your fit and finish look good dude - you'll love the way it drives. - Sam thanks man cummins from you thats a real compliment. hey you dont remember if your trans had a mount adapter plate like i have on mine? i kinda want to use my factory mounts. but if not i can figure some thing else out Don't forget to get the other front gear case bolts while you are doin' the KDP...You probably got 'em, but just makin' sure...Cummins along nicely! You will love it!!!
Andrew

well happy 4 o july every body. yesterday moparv8nut and family came over and helped me with the cross member some. its always nice to have a extra set of hands. and the right tools lol with the engine sitting on the frame the springs i think need to be replaced lol. even with the old v8 thy arched reversed so its not as bad as it seems? well it looks like im gona have to do my first bit of fab work. i moved the trans member back one hole and it sits to far foward and a seccond hole it sits to far back. so what i think im gona do is weld fill in the old holes then drill new holes with the member in the right place. and some where in there i kneed to find a seal that will sit in the seal seat of the od housing of my 618(46rh) and seal to the 205 coupler. the factory seal was meant for the female input off a np21hd and is a bit smaller then the coupler

All I needed to do in this situation, is to unbolt that plate from the Crossmember and flip it over front to back(not side to side) and it put the holes in the correct spot. On mine, that plate had an extension that I cut off. Might give it a shot. Oh yeah...my crossmember is in it's original location. Andrew

well i put the 94 mount on and i think i know what im gonna do now. i was perusing advanced adapters and allot of their trans mount adapters is just square tube with holes in it. think that's what im gonna do. now for some picts a few of the different trans mounts. the one on the left is the 94 and on the right the 79 heres one of the plate that bolts to the trans and the trans mount and with the mount on and the trans member mounted 1 hole towards the rear

all in all i had a blast

well with a little help from my friends i discover i need to build a custom cross member. if i leave the trans member where i had originally thought i would have a problem with the front drive line. the overdrive housing on the trans plus the 205 move the front drive line output a bit far back. all in all its a interesting problem that gonna need a interesting solution soo here is some "engineering picts"

well i went to cummins northwest today. spent 100 bucks on a box but what was in the box was free what it is is a sleeve to cover the crank where the old seal wore a grove into the crank and a new seal to fit the bigger size of the new sealing area.

Hey BenD, been a while since I talked to you. I like the idea of the old style, especially if your grille is straight. I don't recall if you were using an intercooler. It may be tricky to fit one behind the old grille. I plan to put one behind my '75 grille, but I am sure it will require some trimming. If you use the old core, you can get some info off my blog about how to modify it for the rad. and the intercooler if you use a 1st gen. If you go with the newer core, you could just cut a rectangle of steel from behind the headlight buckets and graft your buckets to the newer core. If you go with the 91-93 core support without mod, you pretty much need to use the cromed plastic bubble grille because the headlights are way high. Good luck, Eric

It all depends on which grille you use. If you use the newer grille, you will just need to cut new holes for the intercoller. It is wider than the 91-93. You have to relocate the overflow bottle and such.
As said before, if you want to use the round headlight older grille, you will need to chan-out and move the headlight buckets, also.

Yeah I'm running a 79 quad headlight setup and grille with a 93 intercooled core support....on some of the 79's and maybe 1980 trucks the headlight buckets were bolted on...i came across a set of those and figured out where they needed to be (i just hung the grille and squeezed my hands behind it to get the headlights "centered" on the grille...then i marked/drilled the holes on the 79 buckets and took the plasma cutter and removed everything inside.... I wish you were closer...in the backyard i have a core support setup for a 93 radiator and a 2nd gen intercooler...it would be easy to mod it for the quad setup.. -Nick

so have you done anything with the trans cross member yet? in my swap i was able to use the 79 mount with a fabbed bracket welded onto it. 3/16 steel plate. was able to keep my stock cross member location. but my dimensions for the nv4500/d300 may not be anywhere near yours. but it would allow you to use the existing cross member after figuring out where it needs to be.

well i havent done any thing but i been thinking on it. i almost think i should got with a nv4500. its a lot shorter then my 46rh. part of the problem i am having is the legnth of the drive shafts. i can use the factory crossmember in a near stock location but then it would be in the way of the front drive shaft. although the front would be long enough to make a 2 piece but thats just silly. and the rear shaft, with the 205 and 46rh, will be considerable shorter then the factory one would, and even shorter when i get a dana 70 for the truck.
