Spent some time today rewiring the fan motor since it melted the fuse in the fuse panel years ago.
I wired it right to the battery with an inline 20A fuse, and a switch to break the ground. Worked great for a few minutes until the fuse holder started to MELT.
Same thing happened in my original fuse panel, and most every one I've seen at junk yards.
Why is this? The fan is a replacement and works great. It just pulls so many amps that stuff starts to melt.
Is it because I've bypassed the resistor coils that vary fan speed?
I'm ok with a one speed fan, but not if it's gonna burn down my truck.
Any body else tackle this ?
Thanks.
