Single cab RC?
« on: February 10, 2017, 02:35:49 PM »
Im 18 looking to buy my first vehicle by myself. 1978 RC with the 440. Its the same color as my dads first RC. The roof is starting to rust and I am wondering if anyone has ever built a cab for just the driver and passenger making it look like a powerwagon?

    Half-cab conversions have been done a number of times but most of these conversions look like hell and basically ruin the truck for most people due to poor execution.  Installing a cab roof and back wall is not an easy thing to do considering the huge differences in the way the Ramcharger tub is made.  The rear wall must be made to fit the very irregular space between the inner bedsides and the height must be right for the roof to sit correctly over the doors and match the windshield.  It can be done, but it will take a lot of time and money plus a lot of hard work from someone who is a master at sheetmetal fabrication and bodywork to keep it from looking like Frankenstein.

    I often think about building a permanently topless RC. Summertime rig.  That would be easier.  ;D

    Yes, a company called "Pacesetter" made fiberglass 1/2 cabs for Ramchargers. I had one - sold it when I sold my 1980. Google image search will have a few results. They are pretty rare but occasionally pop up for sale. I bought mine from another member here.

    They look awesome. Build one, and if it doesn't come out the way you want, pull it off.  {cool}
    The "experts" are great at telling you what you can't do. Don't let someone else's opinion be your limiting factor.
